Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Conor Bradley over a new contract at Anfield, according to a new update from journalist Ian Doyle.

The 21-year-old has been a revelation for the Reds over the past 18 months or so, proving to be an excellent backup option to Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

The highest compliment is that Liverpool’s vice-captain hasn’t even been missed at times, such has been the level that Bradley has found, both in a defensive and attacking sense.

Amid doubts over Alexander-Arnold’s future – he is still yet to commit himself to a new contract – it looks like the Reds are trying to tie down his deputy to a fresh deal.

That’s according to the Liverpool Echo‘s Ian Doyle, who claims that “negotiations continue to take place” between the club and the Northern Ireland international’s representatives.

Bradley’s current Liverpool deal expires in the summer of 2027, so now would be a good time to extend his stay, putting the Merseysiders in a strong bargaining position if interest in him does emerge.

Bradley’s new deal a no-brainer for Liverpool

This is great news and it makes complete sense for the Reds to retain Bradley’s services for as long as possible, with Jurgen Klopp speaking of his admiration for him during his time as manager:

“What a wonderful kid he is. Outstanding finish, the whole game, the contribution, the involvement. It’s a job to play against (Raheem) Sterling, that’s not easy. I’m really happy for him. He’s a very serious young man and that was pretty special I have to say. We saw in the pre-season. He is really doing well.”

Bradley has already racked up 50 appearances for Liverpool, which is a great achievement at the age of 21, with nine assists also outlining his quality in the final third.

Hopefully, he continues as Alexander-Arnold’s backup, meaning the 26-year-old stays put this summer, but that feels far from a guarantee right now.

Whether Bradley is good enough to become Liverpool’s first-choice right-back over time is up for debate, but assuming he continues on his current trajectory, there is no reason why he can’t become one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.
