Liverpool are chasing RB Leipzig attacker Yan Diomande but they face a major challenge for his signature in repeat Champions League winners PSG.
The Reds are set to appoint Andoni Iraola as the new Liverpool manager, who has the tough task of restoring them to the top of English football after they slumped to a fifth-place Premier League finish this season.
Diomande has been earmarked as a player capable of reigniting the spark at Anfield after 13 goals and 10 assists in 2025-26, per Transfermarkt.
According to Give Me Sport transfer correspondent Ben Jacobs, Diomande is a “leading candidate” to join the Reds, although he has recently spoken openly about potentially joining PSG.
Speaking on the Market Madness podcast, Jacobs said: “He is a leading candidate for Liverpool to replace Mo Salah. Leipzig are hoping Diomande could still sign a new deal, but no new deal has been agreed yet and as a consequence Liverpool and PSG are the main clubs moving for him.”

Diomande quotes about PSG send Liverpool fans mixed signals
Speaking on a TikTok live stream in November 2025, Diomande was asked who his dream club is.
He replied: “I have one, I want to play at Anfield. I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a big fan of Liverpool.”
Now, French outlet L’Equipe have interviewed the Ivorian ahead of the FIFA World Cup, and he admitted he would be happy to play for PSG.
Diomande said: “Paris Saint-Germain is a team I’ve loved since I was a child. My father supports Paris Saint-Germain, and it’s a team I admire as a football fan.
“It would be a pleasure for me to come and play here with one of the biggest clubs. It’s always a pleasure to come here because, with French being spoken, I think adapting wouldn’t be difficult. But why not?”

To Telefoot, Diomande said: “I don’t think I’m looking ahead to the future or focusing on anything else. As I’ve said, I remain focused on the World Cup. After that, the clubs will sort things out between themselves and we’ll see what happens next.”
