Roy targeting Newcastle centre half?

|

According to the Sunday Mirror, Roy Hodgson is targeting Steven Taylor to be one of his first signings for Liverpool FC. A £5million bid is believed to be on the table and early negotiations between the Tyneside club and the Reds have said to have already taken place. Taylor himself is still looking for reassurances about the club’s future from owner Mike Ashley before making any decision but if the Toon Army go through with their promise on not spending huge amounts of cash, Taylor will consider his future and look to move to a club with more ambition. The paper believes that the 24 year old defender would favour the Reds ahead of many other Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Arsenal, and Newcastle’s hand maybe forced as the player’s contract ends in a year’s time. Taylor could sign a pre-contract agreement with any club in January and Newcastle may have to sell him this summer if they do not want him to leave for nothing next year.

then, what happens to kyrgiakos and skrtel??

I’m sure Agger will be in the best 11 and Carra would be hard to be replaced as well although I don’t think he’s good enough for the spot anymore. so… if taylor comes in, does that mean we selling either kyrgiakos or skrtel?

wouldn’t have thought central defence would be a priority, especially when we are crying out for a quality left back along with wingers and a striker!
surely we have enough at central defence to see us through to january sales?
perhaps roy just wants to snap up some young english talent but is taylor good enough to dislodge agger or skyrtl? he’s guaranteed to start with newcastle, has he the character to fight for a start at anfield?
