Would this Irish international be Yossi’s ideal replacement?

|

After Yossi Benayoun’s exit from Anfield, would Fulham’s Damien Duff be the ideal replacement on the left wing for Liverpool?

The Irish International was a Hodgson signing from relegated Newcastle two years ago and he repaid Roy’s faith in him with some scintilating displays for Fulham last season. He helped Fulham reach The Europa League final last season and his crossing ability and goals would be a valuable asset to Liverpool in the season ahead.

It is believed that he would be available for around £5 million and I am sure the Irish winger would jump at a chance to join his former manager at his favourite boyhood club at last.

Fitzy your figures don’t add up you’ve got us recieving £42 million in sales but then add sales from Jan, on top of budget. Are you mad? The Echo tells us Roy’s budget is around 12 million, that could mean it might stretch to 15 or be as low as 10, this figure will include Jan sales. So if we get your 42 mil, I discount Yossi that money went to paying of Rafa, (Purslow played a blinder there paying a manager 6 million when Inter were after him) and getting Roy, then we’ll have maximum 57 million. That’s well below the 80 million you quoted for your buys, and this of course is if Roy gets all money from sales. Given that is seems likely that the banks have effectively take control of the club, hence Brughton’s insistence in front of the media the yanks couldn’t block the sale of the club, it seems unlikely unless the sale process is going well. If so I still couldn’t see the deal being done before the 3rd week of August at very best so we’d have one week with prices being vastly inflated to get players. It will be a season of sticking with what we’ve got with a few squad players thrown in, providing the crown jewels don’t leave.

Stop thinking about replacing Kuyt at the right wing. We have got problems elsewhere and the worst thing to do now is to replace our most consistent player. We need to find a suitable left winger and a decent centre midfielder to replace the laughing stock Lucas.

To Kamster: We are not playing Football manager here. We simply cannot afford to do a full revamp of our squad, at least not in one transfer window. Even if we get a buyer and the funds to buy world class players that we deserve to have, we can’t as common sense will tell you that it will affect the stability of the squad. We may end up worse that last season. Think about how Arsenal did the last time they went through that kind of change.

Duffer is a better player than most of the English team. He has a brain, is comfortable on the ball and in tight spaces, and he actually works and plays for the jersey he wears. Liverpool could do a lot worse than him, SWP isn’t even half player he is.

So if Fulham player wants to go to Liverpool, and Liverpool needs him, Hodgson will not bring him becouse of an agrement with Fulham?
It’s not fair to Liverpool is it, you can not be loyal to 2 teams.

  • In the grand pattern of things you’ll secure an A just for effort. Where you actually lost us ended up being in the details. You know, they say, the devil is in the details… And that could not be much more correct in this article. Having said that, allow me say to you precisely what did work. Your writing is very convincing and that is possibly why I am making the effort to opine. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, although I can easily see a jumps in logic you make, I am not really sure of exactly how you seem to unite your details that produce the conclusion. For the moment I will, no doubt subscribe to your issue however wish in the future you actually connect the dots much better.
