Henry: He needs a more substantive role within the club

|

Liverpool co-owner John W Henry believes Reds legend Kenny Dalglish needs to have a more significant role at the club. Speaking on the LFC TV phone-in last night he said:

“We actually met a couple of times to talk about things. He needs to have a more substantive role within the club and that’s something we are working on with (director of football strategy) Damien Comolli.”

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner also said he had spoken to Dalglish:

“We had a lovely dinner with Kenny, his wife Marina and his son Paul – I understood about half of what he said, and I just nodded when I couldn’t understand. But we know what he means to this club, and we would be well-served with his spirit and tradition.”

This week it is former Liverpool player Danny Murphy’s wife Joanna Taylor!

  • I AM says:

    “substantive role”…..how`s about manager

  • Paul says:

Manager!!!! You taking the P*ss!!!! He has not managed for a decade and his last 2 jobs were flops! I couldnt think of a worse person for the job!! Have Faith in Roy!

    • Joe says:

      well said!

Are you havin’ a laugh chief?! This man IS LFC and he remains the only man outside of wenger and mourihno to take the prem off matron ferguson. And you suggest having “faith” in a man who is single-handedly absorbing every last drop of hope from the club with his caveman tactics, hangdog pessism and inability to motivate players or fans.

    • Frank says:

Have faith in Roy!!!? are you a manc or are you a deluded TV pundit?

    • vjm says:

another full……Faith in Roy Ha Ha!!!!!!!

  • Livmad says:

Roy out now…sick n tired of that joker. King Kenny the new Liverpool manager…

  • JK says:

Leave Kennys leagacy as it is if he comes in now after so long out of the game some deluded fans will turn on him also just like Roy at the moment.

Lets not tarnish a great reputation!

  • anteater says:

Understanding only half of what Kenny says is probably the main problem with him. I’ve always had problems understanding Kenny, but unlike Tom Werner I am not a native speaker. If Kenny was installed as manager I’d expect our foreign contingent to ask for immediate transfers as the language barrier can’t be bridged.

Apart from that, well said Paul!

  • Joe says:

King Kenny blah blah blah, yeah he’s a total legend, but he hasn’t managed a club in how long.

Roy isn’t doing as bad a job as everyone likes to make out, it’s the players out on the pitch who aren’t getting the results. You can’t seriously tell me that the team we sent out to play Newcastle at the weekend, you wouldn’t have picked any differently, we’re on the bones of our arses right now, and king or no, he would not be able to make the slightest difference.

If Torres can’t score a one-on-one in i dont know how many games its been now, then what’s Roy meant to do? dust his boots off and play centre forward? get a grip.

  • hando says:

Have faith in Roy? Is that the same Roy who took Kenny’s title winning squad with Blackburn and turned them into relegation candidates? The same Roy who’s won nothing in his 35yrs of managment? The same Roy who’s won less away games in his entire premier league career than a certain ex-liverpool manager did in 2008/2009? Is this the same Roy who keeps making negative baffling statements to the press? The same Roy who rub’s his face, scratches his arse and then put’s his fingers in his mouth on live tv? Yes I’ve got faith in Roy, faith in him to be an embaressment who will take the club backwards!
