My TOP FIVE Liverpool January Transfer Targets

|

With the January window upon us, I thought I might offer up some transfer targets that Liverpool could look at. Some are more realistic than others with a couple probably more at home in a fantasy football eleven. Of course all depends on what John W Henry and the Fenway Sports Group decide to give the Liverpool manager in January:

1) Eden Hazard – An attacking midfielder who has the creativity to frighten any opposition defence, the young Belgian international is being chased by a number of Europe’s top clubs. At 19, he would surely fit the bill of young and talented which the new American owners are looking for and for this reason I would put him as a more realistic transfer target if Henry & Co are willing to fork out £15million. A stumbling block may well be that he has stated recently his admiration for Arsenal but the Reds could have a trump card by being able to offer him first team football with less competition for places.

2) Ashley Young – Another more realistic transfer target as the Aston Villa star has yet to sign a new contract which runs out within a year and a half. With the Reds desperately looking for a winger to give the team some much needed pace and width, Young is both still young and home-grown. A big issue will be the competition that Liverpool could face for his signature as teams such as Spurs could offer Young a different option.

3) Fernando Llorente – Definitely by far and away the most unrealistic option on the list. The asking price of over £30million would probably rule us out and leave only Real Madrid or Manchester City with a realistic chance of buying him. I have offered him up as forward option though as I would like to have a similar style of player up front to Llorente. A target man who is strong and powerful in the air as well as capable with the ball at his feet, he would be a very good foil for Fernando Torres. What other strikers could be said to be similar? Mario Gomez was touted but he now has a first team place at Bayern, but one option I would not like to see is Carlton Cole.

4) Fabio Coentrao – Considering our travails at left back with Paul Konchesky, I’m offering up Coentrao as the ideal candidate although I feel he is an unlikely purchase at best. We need somebody who is equally adept at the back as they are going forward and there are not many left backs in world football that live up to the billing. All the other options on the table would be equally as expensive as Coentrao so I am uncertain as to who else would be a good purchase.

5) Yann M’Vila – Damien Comolli is likely to sign at least one player from France in January, and M’Vila would seem to be the most likely candidate for a couple of reasons. With Christian Poulsen touted to leave in January, Roy Hodgson will need to have another defensive midfielder and 20 year old French international M’Vila would tick all the boxes for being young, quick and an able tackler.

Kenny has taken his pills & washed them down with a couple of xmas ales going off yesterdays load of garbage. SELL Torres for 50MIL you say & bring in DZEKO someone who wants to play CL football that’s why he’s looking @ MANURE & not us, ANDY CARROLL ticks all our boxes young, plays 1st team football but major problem MICK ASHLEY, MAVINGA move him to left-back you say ( is that anywhere near GENK ), forget ASHLEY YOUNG he cuts infield to often he’s also in the medical ward, move GLEN JOHNSON to the right hand side of the midfield ( He’s made it clear he wants to leave.) The only guy worth looking @ is N’ZOGBIA the door has been left open for him to leave for the right price, & @ the start of the year BIRMINGHAM offered 6MIL. ANYONE WHO IS BROUGHT IN THE JANUARY WINDOW MUST BE ABLE TO GO STRAIGHT INTO 1st TEAM. I honestly believe YANN M’VILA is on the radar along with ADIL RAMI, LUIS SUAREZ of AJAX is serving a ban & will be out till February I think a swap deal with RYAN BABEL & cash & everyone’s a winner EDIN COCALIC & FREDERICO FAZIO are great future prospects as well so who ever they sign, sign with an eye on the future.

Fabio Coentrao 10/10 YES PLEAS,E GOOD AS WINGER OR LEFTBACK.

    ASHLEY YOUNG NO THANKS 6/10
-ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIM AND BABEL IS SOMEONE GAVE YOUNG A CHANCE TO PLAY REGULAR FOOTBALL. WHY WASTE MONEY JUST PLAY BABEL WEEK IN WEEK OUT.

WHY HASN’T MARIO GOMEZ BEEN MENTIONED??? HE IS GOOD IN THE AIR AND BEST STRIKER IN GERMANY AND WOULD BE A GREAT PARTNER FOR TORRES (WHO SHOULD NEVER BE SOLD).

In response to Julie and kd7 Edin Dzeko you say wants to sign for a club in the Champions League, maybe if primadonna Torres would score some goals to earn his wages for a change the club would be back in the champions league next season. Adil Rami is only 6 foot tall, that is too small to be a centreback for a team that must aspire to win the Premier League every season. According to you Julie, Mike Ashley won’t leave Andy Carroll leave, what dream did you have that gave you that message. It is well known that a bid of 15million would complete the deal, but once again you would prefer him to go to an ambitious club that wants to play in the Champions League, rather than your favourite competition the Europa Losers Cup.

Poulsen, babel ,lucas, ngog these players we should get rid,of push johnston to right wing , bring in a right back like young, get forlan to come in up front to compliment torres, carzola or ngobia the wing, m villa for midfield or even nolan who would put his heart and soul out for liverpool every game and he scores goals as well, and sell agger as he not worth keeping and get shawcross in

All good candidates, other than Llorente who would be too expensive and I belive a better candidate could be found for the same price.

I would like to think if our owners are able to get a real world class player, like Aguero, or at least make that effort.

I know it’s much to ask now, but even H&G managed to get Torres to the team, and that seemed imposible given the resources Chelsea had back than.
If I was to advise owners I’d go for him as we can all see it’s a young player with really good carier ahead of him.

But these players are all good, more realistic targets.
Many of Liverpool players are barrgains for other teams as well, I must say, if you look at some of Liverpool’s players potential and the way Liverpool is trying to offload them.

We just need a manager who can take the advantege his players quality and I dont think Hodgson is it.

  • Bomber25 says:

Very good choices topped up with Rijkaard as the new manager. Roy is tatically bereft at international level.

  • keneipool says:

how about Aguero?…he’s fast with the ball, great finisher, rips defence with his killer passes…he’s very unselfish too which would make him a great partner for Torres..but a little behind Torres..though. Liverpool shouldn’t even think of selling Torres man!..its not been a good start for him this season…well i dunno, maybe injuries but we all know that no1 can deny that he’s a ,monster in front of goal in his form..from what i’ve observed, he’s become a lil’ too lazy..he doesn’t chase the ball, he’s not running anymore..he’s not even shooting man!..he’s growing with pride with himself which is pushing him down..he must humble himself and not underestimate his opponents
