“Taylor is certainly one who has come into the equation”

|

The Evening Chronicle is reporting that Liverpool are interested in signing Newcastle defender Steven Taylor after the injury to Jamie Carragher. A Merseyside side source told the Chronicle:

“Taylor is certainly one of the players who has come into the equation now that Carra is out for three months. It’s a massive blow for Roy Hodgson to lose a player like him. But he knows he has just got to get on with it, and that means asking the new board to release funds to sign some cover. Taylor isn’t the only defender that has been mentioned but, if he is available, then he will come under serious consideration.”

Taylor is out of contract in the summer and with negotiations seemingly stalling between Newcastle and Taylor’s agent Paul Stretford, the Reds could make a cut price January move for the player.

I’d rather see us trying out Kelly & Wilson to see what they’re made of before we start speculating with other “young” centrebacks.

If the players coming in aren’t going to be “almost” sure-fire quality players, then I don’t see the point in spending good money on more players that may not be any better than what we’ve already got in our own reserves

Totally agree, We have Wilson Kelly mavinga Ayala soto skrtel , and agger soon. We need wingers and strikers not defenders and midfielder. It’s the usual press nonsense, though Roy could do anything!
