Rumour Mill: City striker pushed towards Anfield move?

|

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are in the running to sign Manchester City’s out of favour striker Emmanuel Adebayor. The paper believes that the striker is on the war path with City’s management and wants a loan move to rivals Tottenham in the January transfer window. City are however reluctant for the player to leave for White Hart Lane and are said to be sounding out Liverpool about a possible transfer. Adebayor’s desire is to move to Spurs though and is even asking City to pay half of his £120,000 wages so he can fit into Spurs’s wage structure. Despite the Manchester club preferring he move to Anfield or Juventus, they are apparently so desperate to offload him that they might acquiesce to his demands.

Although a good player – thankyou but no thankyou

will only rock the boat more than it is at present and make us sink

  • Terry says:

    noooooooooooooooooooooo……………

  • Cheyenne says:

God forbid that Liverpool should sign Adebayor, what have we done to deserve him

  • Jay Wright says:

why on Earth should a club do a rival club by loaning out a talented player AND keep paying wages while he potentially harms the loaning clubs chances of success??

Surely it’s up to the player to either forego his wages so he can get some football, or negotiate with the loaning club to cover his expenses??

He’s a good player but as I keep saying, but another target man should not be a priority for Liverpool at the moment (although it does appear that way for most fans)

No thanks. We want players who Want to play for Liverpool and Not a mercenary who is only interested in big money!!

  • stan says:

a target man is a priority…along with a genuine winger..

  • redbernie says:

Mercenary, maybe but if City will stump for at least half his wages then a loan deal until the end of the season could suit all parties. He could fire us up the table sharing the burden with Nando, at least until we are shot of Roy and can give the new manager the serious funds needed to get us back where we belong…..YNWA

  • ed smeulders says:

NO THANKS,he`s too old anyway, won`t fit in with NESV`s thinking of aquiring younger talent.Immediate priority, get rid of Woy and his mid table mentality of sitting back on 1 goal leads with a draw away always being `a relly pleasing result`.Get a grip, this IS and ALWAYS will be LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB Roy,on ya bike,LISTEN TO THE FANS NESV…bring in Rijkaard, new players, new systems and look out 2011/12 season….LFC will be back BIG time!!!

  • Keiran says:

No thanks. Doesnt have the right mentality. Won’t want to “supply” Torres and doesnt score enough to be genuine competition for El Nino…

  • Keiran says:

Ed, agree with what your saying but NO WAY to Rijkaard!! Look at what Guardiola has acheived compared! Rijkaard did very averagly with a fantastic squad!! He reminds me of Gullit. Very over rated as a manager!! Definatly other options than him!

  • Templeton says:

    Oh HELLLLLLL NO!!!!!!!!!

  • Templeton says:

Adebayor for liverpool? That dude is all about his money and he admits it. Liverpool is not the place for this guy. He’ll be throwing tantrums after 2 games!

  • stan says:

sure, he may have some temperemental issues but he can score goals specially considering nando’s goal scoring form off late…he hasnt had enuf chances at city, remember him at arsenal..??

  • Lfc4life says:

    you guys must be crazy!!

who wouldn’t want him on loan move??

he’s a proven goal scorer in the premiership, wouldn’t need much time to settle and on a loan move he can either deliver the goods where we are short of up front or get shipped back out at the end of the season!

what’s the worst that can happen??

it would be a positive move IMO… in fact any recognized striker would be welcomed…

let’s not forget where we are which is milesss away from who we were…

if you don’t believe me check the league table or better still google who are current manager is…. yes it’s snow joke it’s get ready for it………. Roy bloody clueless hodgson!!!

no point pinching yourselves I’m all pinched out… your not asleep but this a nightmare :/

then you get guys commenting rubbish like noooooooo wayyyyy or he’s a mercenary??

I bet you would all have tevez in a blink and he’s clearly stated on many occasions that he’s only in the game for the cash!

take a look around us… I see no money nor quality strikers wanting to join us not whilst Roy is in charge anyways… so who’s to say he would join us anyways!
