5 Games Where More Is At Stake Than You Might Imagine

It’s official. We are in the home straight of the 2010/2011 Barclays Premiership season. It’s been one of ups, downs and in-betweens. With only five games to go before the curtain is closed on yet another Liverpool FC top flight campaign; there is still a lot to play for.

Some punters think that Liverpool’s chances of European qualification are slim to none and that, after recent defeats to lowly West Ham and West Brom, finishing above Everton and retaining Merseyside pride is the clubs only real ambition for the climax of the season.

I disagree. Along with a significant number of fellow Liverpool fans. The style of play in which Kenny Dalglish has brought in since taking over in January would not allow any of the players to give up hope. Not least until it is mathematically impossible to reach Europe. The grit, the ambition and the hard-working attitude that has been drilled into the minds of each member of Liverpool’s squad means that until the final whistle blows at Villa Park on Sunday May 22nd, everything is worth fighting for.

Tottenham Hotspur currently occupy fifth position in the league table and have their sights set on claiming fourth place, and a Champions League spot, off its current occupant, Manchester City. Harry Redknapp and his players, however, would be fools to not keep at least one eye on a Liverpool side who, under Kenny Dalglish, have been transformed. A side that, with the exception of Manchester United, have taken more Premier League points than anybody since the start of 2011.
