I have refrained from writing too much about Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani because of the many contentious issues surrounding the player recently. With his agent shooting his mouth off every day about the player moving back to Italy, it has become somewhat of a soap opera as Italian clubs seem to be determined to reduce the player’s asking price to a ridiculously small amount.

Once again, Franco Zavaglia has come out today and said a few more things. Apparently the Reds are now only asking for €10million while the agent has once again stated that Aquilani is not part of the Kenny Dalglish’s plans:

“Aquilani is still tied to a three-year contract with Liverpool and before his eventual departure we will talk with the leadership of Liverpool. It seems clear to me that the player doesn’t fall into the technical plans of the coach, so the suggestion of his departure is concrete.”

We haven’t actually heard from Aquilani himself over his future plans, but it seems as though a move back to Italy is the most likely outcome this summer. If this seven minute exchange between Damien Comolli and Aquilani in Norway is anything to go by, it surely can be surmised that his future is being discussed. No audible words can be ascertained from the clip so if anyone has any sound software to distinguish what the two are saying that would be very helpful:

Whatever it is, Aquilani does not look like it is what he wants to hear.

Pity if Liverpool was to lose a player of his quality; compared to the square pegs currently occupying Liverpool’s midfield. Is this going to be a de javu re: Newcastle? I hope the owners are watching carefully. They seem to be a ruthless lot. How a club of Liverpool’s stature was chasing after a player of Charlie Adams’s quality, and Manure are chasing after a player of Schnieder’s quality shows why the current score of Premier League titles reads Liverpool 18 Manure 19.

I totally agree with you! I don’t understand the money spent for the quality of players we have purchased!
I do not have anything against any of the new signings, but for the same money we bought Henderson and Downing, we could have bought Mata and Hazard!
I would have bought Given as back up if not pushing Reina to the MAX for first team position!
Then kept the money from Adam as Aqua looks like he is getting fitter and spent money for quality LB and 2 CB!
      Same money and younger!

Given left City where he was earning good money because he wanted 1st team football, so what makes u think he would want to be a backup to Reina?? Also what makes u think Hazard and Mata are interested in NOT playing in Europe??
        wot a load of crap!!

    • Gerrardious says:

when will u get it into ur skull that we cannot afford guys like Sneijder because of their transfer fee and most importantly their wages. Also, who’s to say they would be interested in coming.
ManU and co are strengthening their team. we are just building.
so STOP complaining and be supportive.

If you look at the body language its nothing threatening! Looks quite sociable to be honest!

He’s not a happy man Aquilani!!!

  • abraham says:

cordial discussion between two colleagues on issues they both commonly have same affinity for. no confrontations what so ever

  • Mish says:

Comolli’s body language is assertive but open.

Aquilani looks guarded, possibly even anxious. He’s shuffling from foot to foot, which shows he’s on his nerves, or at the very least uncomfortable with what’s being said.

  • Felderkirk says:

The music at the start is ‘Round Midnight’ by Thelonious Monk, if that helps.

    I’ll get me coat…

  • Mish says:

Felderkirk deserves a round of applause for that spot.

    Take a bow, son! 🙂

This man could be our best player this season if he is not forced out by someone making an incredibly stupid decision. I’m really worried about LFC. Our beloved team. Why on earth sell one of our best players when it’s clear (look at our pre season form) we need him.
