LONG-TIME Liverpool target Arda Turan has denied reports linking him with a move to the Premier League, reports Sky Sports.
The Atletico Madrid winger has been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool, but the 26-year-old has insisted his future lies in the Spanish capital:
“I am going to stay with Atletico,” Turan told reporters.
Atletico finished in 3rd place in La Liga, nine points adrift of neighbours Real. Their league finish meant that once again Atletico would be playing in the Champions League, which was enough to persuade Turan to stay:
“I cried for five minutes after the final game of the season because it was like being in another dimension,” he continued.
Brendan Rodgers had been hoping to signing Turan as a replacement for Stewart Downing, who has been linked with a move out of Anfield once again.
The Turkish international won the Copa Del Rey this season, beating Real Madrid in the final at the Bernabeu.
Turan scored 5 league goals for Atletico this season, assisting a further 4 for his teammates. But despite interest from Liverpool, seems set to stay in Spain for next season.
Turan joined Atletico Madrid for €12million, making him the most expensive Turkish footballer of all time.
