LFC keeperLIVERPOOL goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi has joined Red Bull Salzburg, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Gulacsi was out of contract in the summer, and so will join the Austrian club for free, after signing a 4-year contract.

“I am pleased that I will be able to play for a top Austrian club,” said the Hungarian.

“My goal is to compete to be the club’s number 1 and be successful with Red Bull Salzburg both domestically and in Europe.”

Gulacsi signed for Liverpool in 2008 after completing a successful one-year loan spell away from Hungarian club MTK.

The youngster, who was a regular for Liverpool’s reserve team, penned a new four-year deal in 2009 and went on to spend time on loan at Hereford, Tranmere and Hull City.

But after joining Red Bull Salzburg, Sporting director Ralf Rangnick said: “We have signed a goalkeeper in Peter Gulacsi that will further improve our quality.

“He was here for a three-day trial where we watched him very closely and put him through his paces physically. We are convinced that he has great potential.”

The 23-year-old keeper never made a senior appearance for Liverpool, after being the 3rd choice ‘keeper behind Pepe Reina and Brad Jones under both Brendan Rodgers and Kenny Dalglish.
