THE Daily Express today reports that Liverpool FC are closing in on a £5million deal for Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira.
The 27 year old Brazilian had been linked with Liverpool’s city rivals Everton but it appears the Reds have moved ahead in the race to sign him.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has looked at numerous players to offer competition to Jose Enrique including Aly Cissokho from Valencia and Benfica’s Lorenzo Megarejo.
It appears now though that Rodgers has settled on Siqueira and Liverpool are pushing for the £5million deal to be completed as soon as possible.
The fee of £6million has already been recouped this morning as Stewart Downing completing his transfer to West Ham United – a £14 million loss on the winger.
Rodgers now also plans to move for a new face on the left side of the attack.
The manager’s plan is to link Philippe Coutinho up with Daniel Sturridge through the middle and Rodgers has been quoted as saying:
“We are looking for someone on the left with pace and who can score goals.”
With only 3 weeks left of the transfer window the Liverpool FC manager needs to move quickly now to ensure the Reds are not left short in attack like last season.

Can Somebody tell RODGERS to stop being confused. Let him bring in Experienced players.. No LW, NO LB, NO RW… We are in trouble for this new season. We wil finish 8th.. Tell dat fool BR to leave the Midfield and concentrate on the defence and wing.
5m for him. What a waste of money. And please don’t waste another 35m on willian. I thought we’d learnt our lesson with carroll and downing. Get tom ince. Willian cares nothing for lfc. Big mistake if we buy him. Hopefully spurs are interested and will get willian
j.enrique better played as left winger then left back.
