Kolo Toure LiverpoolLIVERPOOL defender Kolo Toure is confident that the solidity the team have shown in the early stages of the season can propel them to achieving their ambitions of garnering silverware this season, according to Sky Sports.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have been victorious in their first 3 Premiership games, successive 1-0 wins with Daniel Sturridge netting all 3 goals; the most recent victory against last season’s champions, Manchester United.

This fantastic start to the season has put Liverpool top of the table as they prepare themselves for a trip to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea on Monday, and the Ivorian, believes that the unity of the club this season will be a prominent factor in the Reds’ success.

Talking to the club’s website, he said: “With team spirit, you can win anything, individuals are very important, but team spirit is the key – it is the most important thing.

“Individuals can win you one game, but to win trophies or be champions it is down to a group of players.

“If you want to be successful, you need to work as a team. That is really, really important because we are a group of players and we have the same target – to win trophies and do as well as we can.

“When you don’t play, you need to support the team and your team-mates need to feel that you are behind them fully.”

Toure missed the Manchester United game after suffering a groin injury in Liverpool’s Capital One Cup tie against Notts County, but is hopeful of returning to face Michael Laudrup’s side.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
