Liverpool IN an interview with The Metro, former Reds star striker John Aldridge has urged the club not to hand Luis Suarez a new deal.

Suarez, who was linked with moves to both Real Madrid and Arsenal over the summer, having asked to leave Anfield, has recently returned to the first team after serving his ten game ban and there has been talk of the Reds offering the Uruguyan a new and improved contract.

Aldo however, remains convinced that it is not the time to be offering Suarez a new deal.

“Suarez was very keen to leave Liverpool in the summer and I have no doubt that he will look to get away once again,” said Aldridge.

“So why try and get him to commit to the club now, so soon after he did the dirty on them with his bid to join Arsenal?”

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre may have told the media he would consider a new contract for Suarez in a bid to dampen down any fresh speculation over the future of the striker.

“But if Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League once again, I’m sure Suarez will want to leave and I would advise my old club to get as much money for him as possible and rebuild the team with the new funds.”

Suarez would reportedly earn £160,000 a week from any new deal with the Anfield club.

Totally agree with Aldridge. There is no need to give Suarez a new contact . We are even not sure if he will still be around come January. If Liverpool insists on giving Suarez a new contract it will have to be in Liverpool’s favor.

he is not a kop legend coz we don’t know him he is a spy for the kops and he should shut up and take care of his grand children,he isn’t the coach.

  • charlie says:

this is business, not a pissing contest between suarez and the club, why wouldnt the club try to tie down one of the greatest players in the game currently

  • Jimmy says:

he is a legend in Liverpool, everyone knows him there – that’s all that matters….Liverpool football club.

  • kugan says:

whaat,,Aldo not a legend,,,where have you been my boy and i say boy caus you must be very ,very young and new to LFC………….look him up my friend!!

  • redscouse says:

Aldo is a legend but I still disagree with him on this……..offer Suarez a new deal and then even if he wants to leave we can command the fee we want rather than being weakened by LS being on shorter time remaining on his contract

  • Blindside says:

I suspect that there is much truth in his remarks as I am of the firm belief that Suarez WILL be leaving just as soon as the first opportunity arrives. It would make both football and business sense to have a solid and class replacement ready for immediate start come January and the opening of the window. I suppose that an “upping” of his contract denotes a smart business move as an appreciable fee can be sought. To my mind though even if he stays for the remainder of this season he will be “history” come next ! Just my opinion.

  • pino pino says:

liverpool are offering him a new contract to insert a €70m release clause in it,so everybody calm down,Henry and esp Rodgers are smarter than Suarez. We already have a waiting striker from Brazil. So guys relax lfc is in absolute control of the situation.Y.N.W.A

  • Denis D says:

He should not be rewarded no new Contract, at end of day he has three years left on his contract and unless Real Madrid offer 70M plus he should not be sold.

Real Madrid paid 85M for Bale and Suarez is better than Bale. And even though Real Madrid have purchased Bale, they are struggling in their league.

And will be desperate to purchase Suarez, so the owners and Rodgers should stand firm forget the measley 45M the newspapers are quoting that Real Madrid are going to offer in January for Suarez.

Whether or not Suarez is sold in January or Not, B Rodgers needs 50-60M from the owners to bring in these 5 players to maintain our top 4 pursuit:

    A GK , A DM, A RW / RWF, A LW / LWF and A FD
1: GK: A Mccarthy(23) Of Reading for £4-£7M to compete and Cover Mignolet for next 5-10 years. ( For Now and Future)

2: DM: M’Vila (24) Of Rubin Kazan for £10-£15M to compete and Cover Lucas, A more mobile, powerful, Quicker, Tough Tackling player than Lucas Leiva who would do well against the players Lucas Struggles against Powerful, strong dominant midfielders( Capoue, Dembele, Mulumbu, Nzonzi, Schneiderlin, Sissoko, Tiote, Yaya and Wanyama)

3: RW / RWF: J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia in Mexico for £4-£7M to compete and Cover Sterling.

4: LW /LWF: B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle for £10-£15M to compete and Cover with IBE in future but to compete with Moses and Ibe at the moment

5: FD: A Hernandez (23) Of Palermo should definately be brought to club for £3-£8M to compete with Sturridge and Suarez.

I loved Aldridge as a player but he’s just a joke now. Why would anyone listen to an old coke head with the IQ of loaf of bread. Buy him a bev & some gak and he’ll pretty much right what you want , thats if it’s ok with Carra

You are big fool, a true definition of the word: “BUFFOON”!
Did you even understand what was written or your brainless skull just pushed you to write a stupid comment?? It must have been hard for your parents bringing you up!

  • red says:

Suarez is our prized asset and FSG must keep him at all cost. LFC just needed 1 more proven striker and 1 more playmaker for challenging the top 4 position.

  • Tom says:

All i can say is Ian Ayre is an idiot. He knows nothing about being an MD of a great football club like LFC. He’s just good with the commercial part of the club but overseeing things, he lacks the knowledge and he’s so dull in player transactions.
Why give Suarez a new contract when we not sure of our position yet?? FSG should find someone reasonable and smart to run this position YNWA!
