Should Suso Be the Makeweight In Potential Moreno Transfer?

Alberto MorenoWith the news of a £16 million offer for Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno many Liverpool fans will have been punching the air in delight that a transfer rumour with some basis and for a very talented player was in the offing.

With over 40 appearances for Sevilla last season and a couple of appearances for Spain to his name, the young left back clearly has a great deal of quality to offer as well as an occasional goal threat Which is something Liverpool have lacked for some time from full back.

Moreno would not just be adding some much-needed quality to Liverpool’s defence but would be filling a definite problem area. As, no matter how well young Flanagan performed there last season, you can’t underestimate the benefit of having a dedicated left-back playing in that position.

All in all, the purchase of Moreno would be hugely welcome and for £16 million and a loan player in exchange, you can’t grumble.

Except for the fact that that player reportedly being offered on loan is Suso.

Having spent the whole of last season on loan at Almeria, the 20 year old had his most complete and successful season to date, performing extremely well, week after week.

For the La Liga strugglers Suso played over 30 games, contributing 3 goals and 9 assists in a season where he was receiving praise on a regular basis.

While the youngster can’t be expected to walk straight into the first team, he will certainly play a part in the first team squad, and with the increase in games next season, he’d no doubt gain some invaluable top-level experience so there is definitely an argument against loaning him to Sevilla as part of any deal for Moreno.

For instance, with the future’s of both Iago Aspas and Alberto under scrutiny, it may kill two birds with one stone to move one or the other out and bring in a quality, much-needed acquisition. Loaning out a talented, young midfielder seems quite counter-productive in many ways, particularly with Liverpool looking to bolster this area going forward.

However, if this is how the club opts to proceed then all the fans can do is get behind them and the manager and hope it pays off in the short – and long – term, as there is no doubting what a boost a player of Moreno’s quality would give as the the club’s first summer signing.

At long last, areas where we need to improve. Suso is classed as homegrown. He has quality and is young. Should keep him really.
Why not a double bid for Moreno and Rakitic! Would solve a lot of problems. Keep Suso, solve more creativity in mf…our left back position and back up for coutinho ? Add konoplanka (if the deal is still on) . And focus on defence.
Let’s get the business done fast this year. Top 4 should be a priority now. Man U, spurs will come stronger. We must put distance from them because if we do, both of them will be set back years.

Another transfer I’d like is Torres! Get the lad back. We need a back up striker to sturridge and Suarez. Why not? And don’t give me the bertrayal stuff…
Do you think he would provide cover?

The signs are that Rodgers is systematically getting rid of the quality players trained by Borrell et al. I fear for the future of Liverpool in the hands of this smooth talker who has never won a trophy in a big club as this. We are gambling.

Why not give them Alberto… with £12m for Moreno?? & Let Suso play apart next season??? I believe Suso is qay better than Luis Alberto

I think br will make a big mistake to let suso go use our youngsters and what abt texiera too great to read abt our young players but not c them play what ashame

For me it is ok for suso to go out on loan to play week in, week out to help is development.

Atleast when he comes back, then we would have a confident player.

With UCL, EPL, FA and League Cup will be played next season, players like Suso, Alberto, Borini, Taxiera, Ibe, Robbinson Kelly, Wisdom will have opportunity to play. And we need them as backup should any of the first team players injured or suspended. So unless we really bring in quality players, letting these boys go will be a big mistake.
