Captain Morgan’s cannon used in his football test

“They say it’s the most tested football in history”, announces the opening of Captain Morgan’s Legendary Football Test, as it fires out of a 17th century cannon and tears through the back of a football net.

After passing the ‘speed’ test at 76mph, the ball is then tested for ‘swerve’, of which there is plenty and then compared to the old style football, that your Grandad no doubt told you was like heading a cannonball.  Considering the way the ball ‘plops’ out of the cannon, it’s possible that it’s heavier and more dangerous than a cannonball!

There’s no doubt that if one of these old balls was used at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, then we certainly wouldn’t be seeing any of the incredible goals, assists or footballing wizardry we’ve seen at the World Cup so far.

By the end, it’s clear to see the Captain completely approves of the new ball, with control, accuracy and those attributes already mentioned above seemingly coming together to make the perfect ball. And they can’t be far wrong, considering the problems at previous World Cups with new balls, have been completely absent from Brazil 2014.

Take a look at the full video of Captain Morgan and his crew putting the ball through it’s paces below:
