Liverpool can only improve after the break, believes Rodgers

With the disappointment of the month that came after the last break for internationals, Brendan Rodgers said after the 2-1 win over West Brom at the weekend that he believes Liverpool can make strides to hit some kind of form after the current 2-week break.

Although many fans have been sorely disappointed in the Reds form this season, many believed that a sloppy, narrow win would see Brendan Rodgers’ side pick up. Speaking after the game, Rodgers said “The key was to come off the back of a disappointing performance and result. The performance wasn’t anywhere near where I would want it to be.

“But while you’re searching for that, it’s important to get the win and we did that. I’m delighted that we got the win – it moves us right up the table. We can now go into the international break and get ready for our next game.”

The Liverpool manager continued, “What we’ve done in the last 18 months shows the level of mentality the players have. They have got a real winning mentality. Their behaviours are very honest and committed – and that’s what always gives me great hope here as the manager.

“I know that once they start to click, and the new players adjust to being a Liverpool player and the players that were here find a way and philosophy to work with them, we’re going to be a very good team again.”

With a 2-week break comes the risk of losing yet more players, something that is a very real worry for a club that lost almost half-a-dozen of their key players during the last international period, and this break will be no different. However, the fact that key stars such as Daniel Sturridge, Joe Allen and Emre Can could return afterwards is a huge bonus for the team as Brendan himself alluded to, saying “And once the injured players return to the group, it puts us back in a good moment.”

Do you think that the current break has come at a good time for Liverpool, allowing the club to get all injured players back to full-fitness or does the risk of losing more stars to injury out-weigh the benefits? Let us know what you think in the comments.

What we need is team intergrity nd wining consistency. B.R should improve in his team buildup when it comes‘ to setpiece defending. Most of d goals we concede is frm setpiece play. I biliv LFC can go 10 games unbeaten afta d break. YNWA

We will see an improvement because the peeny has dropped and Gerrard will be pushed forward to link play with sterling and sturridge. Hopefully tiote will be brought in to sit in front of defence.
