Jamie Carragher has expressed his excitement at the prospect of pulling on a red shirt again as the Liverpool FC Legends get ready to face their Real Madrid counterparts on Sunday 14th June (KO 5pm BST) at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu stadium – showing LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on LFCTV and LFCTV GO in the UK and Ireland. Worldwide fans can also watch all the action live on LFCTV GO.

“It’s nice to be involved in a baptism of fire for the first one [official Legends match] – away in Madrid! It’s great to get the boots back on again and we want to do ourselves justice. Hopefully, all will go well and we’ll get the right result. I think that hour or two before the game, when you’re putting the kit on and getting ready, there will be a few nerves and butterflies. It takes you back to your playing days because for all of us, unfortunately, once those days are gone they never come back. It’s nice on days like this a few of the memories can come back and we can hopefully still produce near enough what we could do in the past.”

The star-studded Liverpool FC Legends team will be managed by all-time leading goal scorer and official Club Ambassador Ian Rush, and will feature ex-players including Robbie Fowler, Luis Garcia, Vladimir Smicer, Michael Owen and Harry Kewell.

The legends will lock horns against Real Madrid’s own illustrious squad, featuring the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos, Clarence Seedorf, Fernando Hierro and Claude Makelele in a contest that is guaranteed to have a competitive edge, something which Carragher fully expects:

“Whenever you play in games the lads are competitive and I’m sure Real Madrid are the same. We’re playing against some world-class former players; I played alongside Zidane in a charity game 12 months ago and he was the best player on the pitch, even then. So I’m sure Zidane has been looking after himself, I think he trains the [Real Madrid] B team so he’ll be training every day so fingers crossed our lads have been looking after themselves for the last couple of weeks!”

LFCTV will be at the heart of all the action, with build–up to the match coming live from pitch side providing the latest team news and exclusive access to the Legends from the historic Bernabeu stadium.

In the Studio, Steve Hothersall will be joined by ex-Reds Phil Babb and Jimmy Case, giving in-depth pre and post-match analysis, whilst former LFC manager Roy Evans provides co-commentary during the game.
