Pedro scoring for Barca

According to reports in the past day, Barcelona attacker Pedro may not be on his way to Manchester United after all. The 27 year old was though to be bound to United, after press reports indicated that he’d told friends he wanted to move.

However, it appears that move may not be as cut and dried as we were led to believe. Reports in Mundo Deportivo (via the Express) claim that Pedro could now be on his way to Anfield.

The forward is a veteran over over 300 games for Barcelona, scoring 98 goals. The Spanish international has also won every conceivable trophy under the sun, and has lasted at Barca far longer than more illustrious names such as Eto’o, Ibrahimovic, et al.

It all sounds lovely, of course, the idea that a top class forward would leave the Nou Camp and choose Anfield over a number of top rivals, but there doesn’t seem to be much of a basis for these claims from the Spanish publication, simply another unsubstantiated claim.

Of course, it’s almost certain that there is a great deal of interest in Pedro from Premier League clubs and there are only a handful that could either afford (or interest) the player, with Liverpool being amongst those.

The Barca player ending up in the Premier League seems a near certainty. Whether he’ll end up at Liverpool though is a question we’ll only know the answer to if he’s pictured awkwardly leaning against a backdrop of the Liver Building.

Can the Reds nab Pedro from under the noses of the club’s rivals, or are these claims nothing but press rumours? Let us know your thoughts below.
