Now the transfer window has passed, the real attraction can step out of the shadows and take centre stage again – the football. And the footballing news for Liverpool has improved slightly this week, after the defeat to Leicester on Tuesday.

The most positive news any Liverpool fan could hear after making no attacking signings in the January transfer window, is that Daniel Sturridge has resumed full training.

The Reds’ main man came through his first full training session on Wednesday, and while he won’t be available for the next couple of games, we should see him available fairly soon.

Considering how poor the player’s finishing was on Tuesday night, you’ll have to forgive the cliché of saying that Sturridge’s return will be like starting a new signing, because that is the sort of difference he can make.

Elsewhere, there’s some good news where another Reds absentee is concerned, as Lazar Markovic could be about to receive a second chance after impressing during his loan spell with Fenerbahce.

The Serbian international was signed by Liverpool for £20 million two years ago but was never given a fair chance under Brendan Rodgers before he loaned the 21-year old out in the summer.

But while the Turkish club are prepared to go very close to what Liverpool paid for Markovic, reports are suggesting that Liverpool will reject any offers for the player, with Klopp keen to take a closer look at him next season.

So, it may all be good news with one eye on the future but at least those are a few snippets of positivity for Reds fans to cling to.
