The decision of Real Madrid to activate their buyback clause of €30million for Alvaro Morata means that Italian Serie A champions Juventus are looking for a striker to replace the Spanish international.

According to Tuttosport Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is one of the names that Juve will consider although it may well be that his Belgian team mate Michy Batshuayi is the favoured option to replace Morata in Turin.

Juventus are looking to reinvest the full €30million in buying the striker but Batshuayi’s club Marseille are holding out for €38million, the Italian newspaper reports, so their attention may switch to other targets.

Edinson Cavani was previously the main target but the Uruguayan would cost considerably more than 30million and is likely to stay at Paris Saint-Germain once Unai Emery is appointed as manager to replace the outgoing Laurent Blanc.

Tuttosport suggest that Everton striker Romelu Lukaku would be the other ‘cheaper’ alternative but again the Merseyside club will demand more than Marseille will for Batshuayi. This then leaves Benteke, who is not a first team regular at Anfield and will likely be allowed to leave for less than the £32.5million that the Reds paid Aston Villa last summer. We will have to wait and see how Juve’s striker search develops.
