Lazio are interesting in signing Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic if they are able to sell Keita Balde Diao before transfer deadline day, according to calciomercato.com.

The Spanish striker has fallen out with Lazio’s president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Igli Tare in recent weeks and expressed his dissatisfaction on his Twitter account. The 21 year old then reportedly went AWOL from training and is not likely to feature in Lazio interim manager Simone Inzaghi’s plans for the new season.

If Keita is offloaded, the Italian club will then make their move for Markovic, reports calciomercato.com. They are are willing to offer between €10m – €12m or between £8.5million and £10million for the Serbian. The Reds paid Benfica £20million two years ago for the player but they may have to cut their losses with manager Jurgen Klopp looking to cut down his squad size with no European matches this season. The Reds boss told reporters last week he was open to the possibility of Markovic leaving before the end of August.
