Inter Milan manager Frank De Boer intends to keep midfielder Gary Medel this summer, according to the Corriere Della Sera. The same newspaper reported yesterday that Liverpool made an an approach for the combative midfielder nicknamed the “Pitball.”

A bid of €15million had been mooted but new Inter boss De Boer believes the 29 year old is an important player for the club, and he isn’t willing to listen to any offers.

The Reds have also been heavily linked with Medel’s teammate and fellow holding midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. The Croatian international is rumoured to be angling for a move to Juventus but Inter would prefer for the player to move abroad. The Serie A club are looking to offload some players in order to fund the €40million signing of Sporting Lisbon winger Joao Mario.

The Portuguese international was also linked with Liverpool earlier in the summer when both the player’s father and agent confirmed the Merseyside club had a bid rejected for the 23 year old.
