Roma are closing in on the loan signing of Thomas Vermaelen from Barcelona with the Corriere Dello Sport believing that the deal is “one step away” from completion after terms were agreed between the two clubs.
The Spanish newspaper AS reported yesterday that the Belgium international had two offers on the table; one from Italy and one from England believed to be Liverpool but it looks as though negotiations between Vermaelen and the Italian side are at the final stages.
It is believed that Roma will pay €2million up front as part of the loan fee while they will also be required to pay another €10million at the end of the season long loan to make the move permanent next summer. The 30 year old is reported to also have agreed personal terms, with a three year contact (with an option for a fourth) on the table, with a salary of €3million a season.
