Liverpool have “asked” Athletic Bilbao about the availability of their forward Inaki Williams, according to Don Balon. The Spanish magazine believes the Reds may make a move for the 22 year old in the January transfer window.

A move in January could be complicated however as Williams is happy to stay at Bilbao, and a transfer in the summer is the more likely outcome at the moment.

Although he has a Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother, he was born in Bilbao and therefore he is eligible to play for the Basque club. Only players born in the Basque country are able to play for the La Liga side.

Williams also has a senior cap for Spain after being called up by manager Vicente Del Bosque as a stand by player for Euro 2016. He came on against Bosnia and Herzegovina back in May, playing for thirty minutes after replacing Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio.
