At last! Philippe Coutinho will be back in the Reds’ squad this week, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

The tricky Brazilian has been one of our star performers this season and has duly helped us to be right in the mix for the title race but we have missed him over the festive period thanks to an injury against Sunderland.

Nevertheless, we’re still well in touch with league leaders Chelsea and have a League Cup Semi-Final to look forward to this week with the former Inter Milan man set to be in the squad.

We face Southampton on Wednesday night as we go in search of a record ninth League Cup win and ahead of the game, Jurgen confirmed in his pre-match press conference Coutinho would be back in some capacity.

He said: (quotes via This is Anfield)

“I think Phil is fit enough to be part of the squad. There could be minutes, how many I don’t know.”

This news comes as an obvious boost, particularly with Sadio Mane off to AFCON and the small matter of the Reds’ trip to Old Trafford this weekend.

How would you use Coutinho, Reds? Let us know below!
