LFC Youth Watch – Lauri Dalla Valle Match Report v Hull

|

lauri_dalla_valle 323rd Mar – Liverpool 1 – 0 Hull City (Premier Reserve League North) – Young Finnish Starlet Lauri Dalla Valle started the victory over Hull but it was fellow striker Jordy Brouwer who stole the headlines. The Dutchman scored a fantastic 25 yard strike just seven minutes into the match to secure the win with the only goal of the game. Dalla Valle had a relatively quiet game considering his excellent recent performances but it was another superb team display that put the Tigers to the sword. It was a rather youthful looking team with two academy players in John Flanagan and Alex Cooper playing at full back, but the lack of experience wasn’t detrimental to the performance as the Reds controlled the first half. The goal came after Damien Plessis passed the ball to Brouwer outside of the box, and he unleashed a rasping shot into the top corner. Another opportunity came for Brouwer in the second half after a superb cross from Steven Irwin was met by the Dutchman but he could only head wide. Hull keeper Mark Oxley had to be at his best to stop Plessis’s deflected effort but Brouwer’s  early strike was good enough to win the match. Commenting on Brouwer’s goal after the match, Reserve Coach John McMahon joked:

“It was a good miss-kick! He usually puts them over the bar. I’m sure he will be down my ear now talking about that goal.”

The Reserve team’s form this season has been remarkable and they have now not lost in 14 games. In the Reserve League table they are now seven points behind league leaders Man Utd with four games in hand.
