THREE Possible Signings for Liverpool this Summer

|

Taye TaiwoJoe Cole (Chelsea) – Out of the three, Cole is the one I would most like to see at Anfield. He is very skilful, creative player; something the Liverpool team is crying out for. He is available for free in the summer on a Bosman and would be an ideal quality signing considering the budget restraints the club will be under if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. The move to Anfield is not that likely though, Cole has indicated his desire to stay at Chelsea and his manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that he is “100% certain” that the attacking midfielder will be at Stamford Bridge beyond this season. The chink of light is the lack of progress in contract negotiations and if these do collapse completely then the Reds do have a chance if Rafa is interested. The injury record of the 28 year old in recent times is a concern, and could be one of the reasons why Chelsea are stalling on a long, lucrative contract, but Liverpool are not in the position to be too choosy when a good player like Cole becomes available for free.

Taye Taiwo (Marseille) – With Fabio Aurelio seemingly on his way out of Anfield in the summer after picking up constant injuries during his spell at the club, Benitez will be scouting the continent for another left back. Perhaps coming in as first choice, rather than as an understudy to Emiliano Insua, is Marseille’s Nigerian left back Taye Taiwo. 24 year old Taiwo was brought to the French Club six years ago in 2004 from his home town club Lobi Stars and he has subsequently become a very important player for the Ligue One side, cementing his place in the starting eleven at left back . Taiwo is known as an attacking full back and he possesses a venomous left boot which has been clocked at 82 mph. He also has great tackling ability and his forays down the left wing will be complemented by his ability to track back with his speed and athleticism. The full back first impressed at international level in the FIFA World Youth Championships in 2005, he scored two goals during the tournament helping Nigeria to the final where they lost out to Lionel Messi’s Argentina. He has subsequently played in two African Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2008, won the Nigerian Young Player of the Year in 2006, and has now accrued 26 caps for his country, scoring an impressive 7 goals in the process.

Stevan Jovetic (Fiorentina) – Jovetic first came to the attention of Liverpool fans back in September when he scored both goals against the Reds in a 2-0 win for Fiorentina in the group stages of the Champions League. The young Montenegran striker has stayed in the minds of many Reds fans and many see him as an ideal partner to Fernando Torres. He is by far the least likely of the three to join Liverpool this summer due to the amount of money Fiorentina would demand for the player. At 20 years old, he is one of Europe’s hottest properties and he would cost over £20million to purchase. If Rafa was determined to buy the striker, it would take up almost all of the manager’s rumoured transfer budget for the summer. He cost the Italian Club £7.3million from Partizan Belgrade in 2008 and the fact that he has scored some important goals this season, not to mention his strikes against Liverpool, including two against Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the Champions League and league goals against Livorno, Sampdoria and Palermo, would indicate Fiorentina would be less than willing to let him go. He has great technical ability, ball control and dribbling skills but he also has a presence in the air and a great finisher, something Reds fans do not need telling.

Verdict – All in all I believe that out of the three, Taye Taiwo would be the most likely mover to Anfield in the summer if the money can be found. Rafa needs a new left back and rumours were doing the rounds in January that we were looking at him. On Joe Cole, I hope he decides to join us but he will probably decide to sign a deal to stay at Chelsea, and Stevan Jovetic would be a long shot considering the amount of money and Rafa’s January interest in Kenwyne Jones, which might be reignited in the summer.

SO YOU PICK THREE PLAYERS THAT COULD BE POSSIBLE TARGETS, WELL

JOE COLE = TO MUCH MONEY HE WANTS FOR HIS WAGES, AND I AGREE WITH CHELSEA, WHO CAN YOU PAY A MAN WHO HASNT DONE A THING FOR NEARLY 3 YEARS 130K A WEEK, TURAN IS A BETTER YOUNGER OPTION, WOULDNT TOUCH THIS BLOKE WITH ANY CASH, EVEN ON A FREE, NO THANKS, IT JUST WILL NOT HAPPEN EITHER, THANK GOD.

JOVETIC, = WILL PROBABLY GO TO ANOTHER ITALIAN CLUB OR GO TO REAL MADRID OR VALENCIA, HE WILL COST TO MUCH FOR WHAT HE HAS ACTUALLY DONE, HE HAS ONLY HAD ONE GREAT SEASON AND FOR ME HIS VALUE OF 25 MILL IS A BAD JOKE, NO THANKS ID RATHER HAVE MATA OR SILVA OR EVEN CAPEL OR NAVAS, WE NEED MORE PLAYERS WHO CAN BE EFFECTIVE AS WINGERS, ASK MORE LFS FANS ABOUT THIS AND THEY WILL TAKE YOU FOR THE LAST TIME, WE NEED A PROPER OUT AND OUT WIDEMAN!

TAIWO = GREAT PLAYER YOUNG FAST GOOD IN THE AIR, BUT CRAPM WHEN WE OUTPLAYED HIS TEAM 3 TIMES,? OVER RATED AT 15 MILL, WOULD RATHER HAVE THAT CISSOKO HE IS MORE POWERFUL THE TYPE OF FULL BACK HAVENT HAD FOR NEARLY 1O YEARS, WE NEEED A HUGE POWERFULL WING BACK TO GET UP THE FLANK AND DEFEND AT THE SAME TIME THIS GUY HAS IT ALL. FAILING THAT BUY DARIO SRNA AND PLAY JOHNSON DOWN THE LEFT, HE DID PLAY THERE IN HIS HAMMERS DAYS.

OTHER PLAYERS YOU HAVE FAILED TO KNOW ABOUT ARE TURAN, MATA, LAFATA, SRNA, RAFA LOVES TURAN THE DEAL FELL THROUGH BECAUSE OF THE YANKS IN JAN, IF BABAEL GOES KRASIC COULD LEAVE IF REIRA JOINS HIS CLUB! THERE WILL BE HUGE MOVEMENT THIS SUMMER IS THE MARKET, VERY VERY BIG MOVEMENT, TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, I KNOW ONE HUGE DEAL THAT IS DOEN ALREADY EMAIL IF YOU WANT TO KNOW

Taye Taiwo would definitly be a great and needed adition to the team, and Joveti? would partner up with Torres nicely.
He is a type of player that would be a sucses in PL, giving his work rate and ability. I’ll take him over K. Jones any day. He is showing real progress, while Jones has just been in a good form for a while.
    Cole is welcome to.

All these players would be interested in a move to Liverpool, as they would get playing time in one of the greatest clubs. They are the best Liverpool can get, unlike richer clubs that have more players of same quality, or better.

Great article, it is nice to see realistic transfer targets that could actualy improve team!

If founds can’t be found for these players than I’m not sure next season will be much better for Liverpool.

  • John Ono says:

    Yep.

A dude that is dumb enough to write in CAPS on an footy website is privy to a huge deal.

  • Colie says:

Samuel I am very interested to hear who the done deal is. mcgrath.colman@gmail.com

  • Ash says:

another liverpool fan in the know…..promising a huge deal when in fact we cant afford to even make our debt repayments..it is just like on a very popular football rumour site where “people in the know” speculate about liverpool’s transfer warchest….get real

  • How often do you write your blogs? I enjoy them a lot 5 2 5

  • philip says:

Ok, the only player i am interested is taiwo. I like Joe cole but there is a problem that he want to play for ManU or Chealsea rather than Liverpool. Face it Liverpool, good players like Joe cole will never consider The Wrack Ship like Liverpool…

  • Matty K says:

Will believe the signings when i see them – as for this supposed i know 1 already why not say who it is – if its a done deal. Why also did you list all these other players you would like Turan or Mata – obviously know as much as the rest of us & going by media speculation – hope your guess is right……

  • Pushing says:

I admire what you have done here. I like the part where you say you are doing this to give back but I would assume by all the comments that this is working for you as well.

  • Murale says:

Good article….would love to see more attacking option on our side..the main reason the fallout this season is leaking defence…n unability to break opponents..

  • Ricky says:

I think benitez is probably gonna look spanish if he has money to spend, hope fully riera will be gone and the money can be spent on players, ive heard a few rumours about amounts we will have to spend min being 30 mil max 50 mil. dont know where we will get the 30 let alone the 50, also the yanks like putting contract extensions into the transfer budget, and we have just tied or about to tie 3 or 4 first team players down so this will have reduced rafas budget straight away. Id love to see cole think he is a fantastic player and if we got him on free then worth a punt. But if rafa does have the type of money that is being quoted by “sources” then it wouldnt suprise me if he bite the bullet and put it all on one player. Will be an interesting transfer window i think.
Would love to know who the done deal is too Samuel my email is ricky_bebb@yahoo.co.uk

    cheers
