LFC Youth Watch: Nathan Eccleston Match Report v Walsall

|

13th Apr –  Huddersfield Town  4 – 3 Walsall (League One) – Nathan Eccleston was an unused substitute for Huddersfield Town against Walsall as the two teams played out an exciting seven goal thriller. It has been a frustrating loan spell at the Terriers for the Liverpool loanee since he joined the League One club in January. After scoring a goal on his debut, he has had to settle for a place on the bench or a place on the wing as Huddersfield look to achieve a play-off position. The 19 year old’s sending off against Gillingham did not help him settle into the club and since he has not started for the Terriers. The main difficulty has been the form of the strikers already at the club: Jordan Rhodes has scored  22 goals this season, Lee Novak has got 12 goals while Theo Robinson has hit a hot streak and his tally now stands at 14 in all competitions. Against Walsall, Robinson, Rhodes and Novak all scored as they overcame ten men. Robinson and Rhodes put Huddersfield into a 2-0 lead at half-time but Walsall mounted a dramatic fight-back in the second half with one less man, making it 3-2, before late goals from Anthony Kay and Novak sealed a dramatic 4-3 win for the Terriers.
