LFC Youth Watch – Daniel Ayala Match Report v Burnley

|

25th Apr – Liverpool 4 – 0 Burnley (Premier League) – Liverpool youngster Daniel Ayala started his first game in the Premier League since August in the Reds’ convincing win over Burnley which condemned the Clarets to relegation. The Spanish defender didn’t put a foot wrong during the match and will be delighted with the clean sheet at Turf Moor. Ayala did give away a foul early on in the match, tackling Wade Elliott unfairly and giving away a free kick on the right side, but for the majority of the match he was solid as a rock, clearing his lines when he had to and making important interventions when needed. Burnley had their chances though during the match, although none could be blamed on Ayala making a mistake. Steven Fletcher had their best chance, hitting Pepe Reina’s left hand post with the score already 2-0 deep into the second half. With Sotirios Kyrgiakos making a mistake against Atletico Madrid for Diego Forlan’s goal last week, it there a case for including the inexperienced Ayala in the return leg at Anfield on Thursday?
