Rush: Pacheco not yet ready

|

As the debate swirls around as to who should replace the injured Fernando Torres up front. Liverpool legend Ian Rush has contributed his opinion to the discussion. Writing in the Liverpool Echo, Rush believes that although  the young Spaniard has a bright future at the club, he doesn’t believe the role of of lone striker would suit the player:

“Among Dirk Kuyt, David Ngog and Ryan Babel, one name that hasn’t been mentioned much is Dani Pacheco. While the young Spaniard has certainly got the kind of intelligence and ability to change a game, I’m not sure he’s the one to come in for Torres yet. His size means he could struggle leading the line on his own, and would probably be better playing off someone.”

The support striker role is certainly the position many at Liverpool see Pacheco filling in the future, and maybe the 19 year old will have to wait a bit longer for his chance.

Hi David , whilst I agree with Ian Rush , however I believe that one will never know if Dani Pacheco is not given a chance at all, Rafa’s tactics are too negative and afraid to promote the youth from the academy.Surely he and Kristian Nemeth cannot be worst than David Ngog, who imo should go and learn the basics by stopping a ball when he receives a pass and give away possesion so easily.relegate him back to the reserves.
I noted that Rafa has defended him ( Ngog ) today by saying he will improve , whilst we losing games and forfeiting the top 4 Champions League spot.

Fine, then play him off Kuyt or Babel, but stop persisting with Ngog who clearly is not of sufficient quality.

Of course! Naturally he can’t be ready as he is 19 and not yet 34 and slow. When he reaches that age perhaps , just perhaps, he will get a game!!! For Heaven’s sake a player develops by PLAYING first class football not by being told “not ready son, come back when older”…..

I also seem to remember a skinny lad from Wales making his debut for the Reds at 19, after playing 1st team football for Chester & after making his International debut (yes I am that old!)

too much chances and not convert it into a goal.

Enough said….better to put Lauri Da la Valle, he should do the job better than Ngog.
