Should Yossi be sold for £9million?

|

Speculation has grown again about Yossi Benayoun’s future at Liverpool. Over the weekend, reports have suggested that the Israeli international maybe subject to a £9million bid from CSKA Moscow in the summer. Two Moscow clubs have already attempted to tempt the 29 year old away from Anfield, and with Rafa Benitez needing money to strengthen his squad in the summer, £9million could well be an offer the Spanish manager cannot refuse. Benayoun has done nothing to quash rumours about a move away from Merseyside, he was quoted by Sky Sports as saying:

“It’s flattering other clubs want me but what is important is where I am now. I am enjoying myself and it’s been good for me here. In a few more weeks, it will be the right time to talk about certain things.”

Whether this means discussing his future is anybody’s guess but he has admitted talking to his agent about his current position. Should Rafa let the Israeli go or should we try to keep him?

    If we want to bring in top talent then we’ll need the mulla, I say sell. We should also be selling Deggen, Insua, Babel and El Zhar, the funds are needed….

    Keep Yossi. He’s one of our few World-class players.

    As much as I love the Israeli Maradona it would be a good deal.

    I’d say 9mil is a good price for a 29yr benayoun.
    Good on his day and by no means the worst player in our squad but we need money to spend and 9mil could get us a decent youngster. Someone with pace and a bit more strength than Benayoun.

    With a bit of lucky selling Benayoun, Degen, Riera, El Zhar, plus the money from Dossena and Voronin we can raise 25-30mil, get 25-30mil from the (hopefully new) owners and then Rafa would have his 60mil to spend on 3-4 class players.

    Pacheco, Nemeth, Kelly and Eccleston will all be pushing for games next year too.

    on one hand yes we need the money and he is not getting any quicker or indeed younger! however no matter what coach fans want in charge, we can go through another rubbish summer where we.

    1, sell the good squad players and keep the deadwood.

    2, do our transfer buisness at the end of the summer window, like last year.

    not matter who is the manager, we need to be building on what we have, not taking parts of the team away.

    if yossi is committed then keep him but if he is seeking huge money and or wants away then get rid, for me if we have money in the summer, which at this time we will not have any! but if we do, then we must buy silva ad a younger direct player to come in…
    others to go are; SELL;
    degen, aurelio, plessies, reira, babel, spearing, darby, cavalieri, itandge, nemeth, el zhar, san jose. that lot brings in around; £ 39 / 40 mill.

    ideally living in a dream world we would either do this;

    david villa – 2nd best striker in world football, only to torres.
    david silva – right/ creative playmaker- valencia
    cissohko – left back lyon
    invest now or regret it forever. usa out , yanks out,,,,,
    martinez- midfeilder- athletico bilbao

    he’s a good players and sparks a little bit of our midfield. The flair that all team needed

    But if he’s looking for big money in Russian league we should not stand on his way. 4 million is a big coup for us nowadays since those yanks pocketing more money every time he visited & attended a match day in Anfield.

    Every penny from players sales should go back to the squad we need strong left back, world class winger and proven striker.
