Benitez: He’s a liar

|

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has denied claims made by outcast Albert Riera that he fails to communicate and is aloof from his players. Speaking yesterday in Madrid, the Spaniard said:

“It is a lie that I don’t talk to the players. He [Riera] made a mistake in an interview and I have witnesses and video of something that I will not count.”

Benitez also revealed he is still unsure how much money he will have to spend on new players despite having two separate meetings with new chairman Martin Broughton in the last couple of weeks:

“I have had a couple of meetings with the new chairman to clarify the situation. We need to know how much money we have, and that also depends on (player) sales.”

Sorry but that 1st quote is not the kind of language Bemitez uses.

Poor Albert, once was silly but twice now that’s plain stupid.

    Sell him and fast.

It’s all a bit of a shame really because he is not a bad player in fact when he can be bothered he’s actually quite good.
The operative word was ‘bothered’ as most of the time he didn’t seem too bothered, go a wee run have a shot or lose the ball then fall over and expect someone else to work back & reclaim the ball.
I am glad to see Rafa buying in young english talent as this is clearly where we need to go. These paticular foreign imports (Riera, Voronin, Degen, Brabel et al) simply do not show the right attitude.
We need players who truly value the Liverpool shirt and play to sweat it right through EVERY game.
We need a team of Carraghers!

I think that Rafa is begining to understand the English game. his tactics are built up on hard work and good technical ability. Unfortunatley most of the forgein imports dont have both. He is now buying british as they will know what it means to play for LFC so what they may lack in tech ability they will in effort. Joe Cole would be a great addition.

I dont think foreigners are ruining the club, as previus comment suggested, Riera is not the one to commplain but for 8 mil. you dont get both (technical ability and work etich).
With Riera neither of the two is much expressed.

I think foreigners have been good for Liverpool, Mascherano, Agger, Kuyt, Fabio Aurelio (I will not say Torres).
Liverpool is the club foreign players have helped a lot, with English players beeing overrated (C. Cole available for 18 mil.) and home grown players not comming through lately for Liverpool.

It’s not about beeing English or not, it’s about an individual. Remmamber Pennant?

Reira flattered to deceive – he is a skilful player but his mentality is not right for LFC – any player that has spoken out of line he way that he has deserves to be dropped like a stone. He certainly didn’t do his world cup chances any good then made ridiculous wage demands of the Russian teams interested in him….he does not deserve any consideration from reds fans in return and as an earlier comment says his work rate was not exceptional – good riddance to him…
