Borrell: Youngsters Tactical Levels have increased

|

Liverpool Academy U18s Coach Rodolfo Borrell has reflected on his first season at Liverpool. Although he believes the season did not start ideally for the young Reds, he thinks that as the campaign has progressed, the team has gradually improved. He told Liverpoolfc.tv:

“I think the lads increased their tactical level and view of the game, as well as the tempo. We were stronger at set pieces, which is something we struggled with at the start of the season. The results started to come in very difficult places. We finished the league better than Manchester City, who are spending massive money on their youth system. We have finished with one or two points more than them. We also beat Everton in a fantastic game. We won 2-1 at Bolton and drew against West Brom, who are one of the best teams in our league. The results started to increase motivation, spirit and the winning mentality. I am quite pleased because we went 10 games unbeaten in a row and we finished the season in the way I expected.”

The Academy side finishd with 45 points from their 28 games played in Borrell’s first season in charge.
