Rumour Mill: Reds chasing Richards, Johnson AND Onuoha?

|

According to CaughtOffside.com, Liverpool are interested in signing Manchester City trio Micah Richards, Michael Johnson and Nedum Onuoha. All three are apparently surplus to requirements in City manager Roberto Mancini’s long term plans and Rafa Benitez is apparently keen to sign all three. The move is partly motivated by the fact that Benitez is keen on signing more “homegrown” players to meet the quota that will be enforced by the Premier League next season. All three have played for England at some level but they have all fallen out of favour at the City of Manchester stadium under Mancini. Richards only signed a new five year contract last season but has only started 5 league games under Mancini while Johnson has only played 3 Premier League games in two years because of injury and off the field problems. The £22million that has been touted to prise away the trio from Manchester will of course be a steep asking price to meet by the Reds who have little money to spend, and player sales would be required to finance any such deal.

SO… if as you say, they are and, quote ‘surplus to requirements in City’….why would a SUPERIOR team, like LIVERPOOL FC bid for them???….Get a life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds good to me though I’m unsure of Onuoha’s abilities. Micha & Michael would be good additions no doubts there & they’re likely to want to come given their lack of playing time for City (which will only get worse when they spend again).
    Go get them Rafa…!

even if this was true……. Agger and Carra are first choice centre backs so Onuoha wouldn’t start or may shift to left back as cover for Insua, Richards would not replace G Johnson unless he starts to play right midfield, while M Johnson showed lots of promise 2 seasons will he be able to regain his form. These players fill none of the voids that liverpool require (strikers and wingers.

A superior team by all counts, but if you fail to notice that we finished in 7th, and will only play Europa league, and just an additional matter of a debt of….hello, do we see the point here?
Since we just simply do not have the ability to get the BIG names that we want, these players have proven ability and under Rafa could shine for us, if this deal does happen then it will be a clever piece of business by us.
We must remember we have been competing except the last season for the top three consistently with a below par squad for some time now, definitely below par compared to the squad of other “Big four”, and with these additions we can do that again.

You are right, we came back and we will again. Don’t get me wrong, like a lot of us I am just frustrated to see our state of affairs at the moment.
Even with this disastrous season I have never thought that this is the end, like many would like us to believe. As I said “we can do that again”.

Shibashis…..Keep faith mate….we are LIVERPOOL, with a worldwide ‘Fan Base’.

When was it the last time that another great club like Real Madrid, won the Champions Cup, what I am trying to say is this….Great teams, will always remain great…their HISTORY will always states so.
