Rumour Mill – Reds Swap Benayoun for Bentley?

|

As summer transfer rumours begin to fill every newspaper and website, Liverpool, despite the fact they have little or no money to spend, are being linked with a variety of players. The latest comes from football website CaughtOffside.com who are reporting that Liverpool are preparing to make a bid for Tottenham winger David Bentley. The 25 year old has improved his form markedly since getting a chance in Spurs’s starting eleven after the absence of Aaron Lennon through injury. Harry Redknapp is still however prepared to let the winger go and the club want to recoup as much of the £15million they spent on the player as possible. To this end, the website is reporting that Redknapp would be interested in a swap deal which would involve Yossi Benayoun moving in the other direction from Anfield as Liverpool look to strengthen their options on the wing. If I was a soccer betting man I would say this rumour probably is a non starter, but with Rafa looking for British players, it could turn out to be true.

Bentlys not good enough for a top 4 team, he looks good with s**t teams like blackburn but his attitude stinks when he’s not in the first team and he’s a ballbag

Yossi has the passion that ALL players putting on the Red Shirt should have. He leaves everything on the pitch, every game…100%. He has good pace, sticky feet, good vision, and is clever on the pitch. He has a nose for the net and has scored multiple game-winning goals. I would like to see him get more minutes on the field. I would not trade him for Cole. Yossi can play on the wing and is effective in a supporting midfield role as well.
