Italian Press: Lippi in the running for Reds Post

The Gazzetta dello Sport believes that Italy Head Coach Marcello Lippi is in the running for the vacant managerial post at Anfield.  World Cup winning manager Lippi will be replaced as Italy boss after the this summer’s tournament by Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli and the Italian newspaper is reporting that the 62 year old is a prime candidate for the Anfield role. After Liverpool terminated Rafa Benitez’s contract on Thursday, the club have been looking at potential contenders and Lippi could be seen as the ideal choice that would satisfy any new owners and give the club some much needed stability. He success at both club and international level would also help, according to the newspaper, and could help persaude both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres to stay on at the club . Gazzetta also states that Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush would support the appointment.
