Just Go Javier!

|

Since the end of last season, Javier Mascherano has given at least three interviews indicating his desire to leave Liverpool, with the latest revealing that he is currently learning Italian and doesn’t know what he will do after the World Cup. This has clearly been interpreted as a come get me plea from him to our former manager Rafa Benitez, who is now at Inter Milan of course.

There is no doubt how important Javier Mascherano is to our squad. In my opinion he’s one of our few world-class players and is an integral member of the team spine. However, he is also very much replaceable. Defensive midfield is not a priority position for us, and it’s also one of the few positions that does not require highly skilled players in order for the team to be challenging for honours.

After seeing Javier flirt more and more with the idea of leaving us, I’ve accepted that he most likely won’t be here next season. In fact, I feel that he’s reached a point of no return and I personally wouldn’t even want him playing for us next season, because it would mean we have a senior player in the first team who isn’t committed to our cause.

I’ve tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, and considered that maybe one or two of his interviews were lost in translation for the sake of a juicier news story. But these interviews seem to be happening a little too regularly for my liking and it has become clear that there is a truth to the story after all.

I understand that his wife is unhappy with life in Liverpool and is struggling to adapt to the language and culture, but I just feel like he’s fishing for a transfer in an unacceptable manner. If he wants to move for family reasons then fair enough, he should have a word with the club, hand in a transfer request if needed and patiently wait for Liverpool to negotiate the best deal for him. Constantly hinting to the press that he’s unhappy and wants to leave isn’t the right way to go about things in my opinion.

I have a lot of respect for Javier Mascherano and I appreciate the service he’s given to Liverpool, but enough is enough. We cannot afford to start next season with unsettled players. Look at Mascherano’s form at the beginning of last season as proof of how badly it can affect a player’s game. Thanks for the effort and passion you’ve shown during most of your time here, but it is clear that the time has come for you to go, Javier.

    Let him to go….

  • Zahir says:

Yus – value Masch at 60m but how much of that will be stolen by H&G? I don’t blame him at all. Until these thugs and their local stooge get lost, nothing can be planned for the future.

  • Zyufa says:

agree with u zahir..it shouldnt be rafa who should go out at first place but that 2 bloody yanks..even we will get 200mil from players ‘jumbo sale’ doesnt mean its going to spend for recruiting talented or world class players tho..as long as that 2 fucking yanks still there so believe me nothing going to be change but we will getting worse n worse after that..mark my word!!!..

There’s no point in having players that don’t want to be at the club, so they should be shunted out as quickly as possible, saying this, any money in from players that want out must be made available to the new manager as soon as poss, we need top notch to put ourselves in with a shout next season, and there’s very little time to do it in, the next few weeks clubs will be scrambling for players, it’s a crucial time for us, we must not miss out.

An Evertonian, here. But, (and this is a rare event) I sympathise with your predicament. After the last season of (by LFC’s admittedly VERY high standards) failure, and the financial mess the Yanks have got you in, you are no longer regarded by the Football Agents’ cabale as “a BIG CLUB” in terms of current Euro standings (NB: NOTHING to do with your history or local standing) So, welcome to The Club, mates. We Evertonians have had to learn to live with it. Bit of a Culture shock to you Guys. Hope you can cope, ‘cos you’re gonna be in that club for the next foreseeable few years.

if his wife is so unsettled, why did he begin negotiations for a new contract??? it doesnt add up. i say f**k off. this club saved your dying career and this is how you want to repay us? you’re easily replaced my friend, maybe the next DM will be able to pick out a pass, be able to get the odd goal or two and not get sent off and booked on so many occasions. just another rafa yes man. whilst youre on to your travel agent, get dirk a flight to milan too. pair of churchill nodding dogs.

  • Red says:

    Agreed.

Buh-bye Javier – instead of fiddle-f**king around and b***hing about not going to Barcelona constantly just b***er off. You’re replaceable. (Provided the team sees the money).

  • Dave says:

Never liked his attitude on the pitch – big mouth!which made him prone to be booked and sent off!Contrary to what some people say – he is’n’t a good leader! LFC won’t miss him!

  • Bheko says:

agree with all that say he must go, fair enough the boy’s good but he is replaceableat the same time. Just eff off to wherever and stop pretending its your wife forcing you out of the city and hence the club you coward. to think how we saved your career…i hope we can get Martinez or Banega with that money and still have some change for H&G’s pockets (tossers).
