Rumour Mill: 25m Masch off to Inter?

|

Sky Sport 24 in Italy are reporting that Inter Sporting Director Marco Branca will meet Liverpool officials tomorrow about the possible signing of Argentina captain Javier Mascherano. New Inter Milan coach Rafa Benitez is a keen admirer of the defensive midfielder and according to the report, Branca will also have formal discussions with Mascherano’s agent to inquire about the possibility of the player moving to Milan. Mascherano has recently revealed that he has started to learn Italian and is unsure about his future:

“I am learning Italian while I’m here in South Africa, I don’t know what I will do after the tournament. We shall see.”

The 26 year old has a contract with the Anfield club until 2012 but the lack of clarity about his future has led to speculation of a €25million move to Inter, surely a figure way too small for a player of his calibre.

The figure would be fair if we hadn’t paid £20m to bring him in from West Ham’s bench a couple of years ago, and if everybody wasn’t now going crazy with their player’s valuations ever since Real Madrid and City decided to start printing cash.

Just think about it – we’re seeing Fabregas quoted at £50m and Milner at £25m! I’d be pushing for as close to £35m for Masch as possible

How come he is suddenly worth half of what he was worth last year? If he has got worse, why does anyone want him?

Just because we have no manager, and it seems no competent leadership, doesn’t mean we should be selling on the cheap. If we have to sell because these pampered ‘stars’ want away, they go for their true value, or they don’t go at all imho.

If the buying club don’t want to meet the valuation, then maybe the player will reduce his wage demands and have that put towards the fee, because they want to go to the new club so much. 😉 lol
