Rumour Mill: Dalglish cancels South Africa showdown talks?

|

Kenny Dalglish has cancelled plans to travel to South Africa, according to the News of the World. The trip had been planned before Rafa Benitez’s exit from Liverpool but now there will be no showdown talks with senior players Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres as Dalglish focuses his attention on drawing up a shortlist of names for Liverpool’s vacant managerial position. Both players will be seeking assurances about the future of the club but Steven Gerrard especially has stated that he wants to focus solely on playing for his country during the tournament as he has felt in the past that he has been distracted by club matters. The club has apparently decided then that there will be no communication with the pair during the World Cup as both look to help their national side’s win the biggest prize in football.
