Would King Kenny actually have any control if he took over?

|

With the current inactivity at Liverpool’s boardroom in deciding on getting a new replacement for shafted manager Rafa Benitez, Liverpool’s fans must be going round the bend.

In their haste to remove Rafa after one poor season, Christian Purslow, Martin Broughton and company seem to be dithering over appointing his successor. Roy Hodgson is the preferred man for the job by the Liverpool board after a season where he got lowly Fulham in the Europa League final with a limited squad, certainly quite an achievement from a man who career has been dotted with some success all over Europe down the years.

However, Liverpool legend, Kenny Dalglish, currently the clubs Ambassador, has let it be known to the board that he wishes to be considered for the manager’s job. He was the last manager to bring the title back to Anfield back in 1990 and was a hugely sucessful player and player-mnager for the historic club back in the day. I am in two minds about this, Dalglish is the right man for the job, of course. But does he want to take it on at present with doubts about the future of the club itself being in debt to the tune of £350 million, the owners who are only here to make a fast buck and get out and the fact that Torres, Gerrard and Mascherano may all look to leave the club this summer? Why would he want to take over at this troubled time and Anfield?

Yes he would be the ideal man to steady the ship as much as he can, but it might be all to no avail if our best players are sold without his say so.

He would end up with no say on his transfer budget that’s for sure. I believe he would only accept the role on a short term basis, perhaps 1-2 seasons with a look to steadying the ship until new owners are in place.

When/where has Kenny come out and said that he wants the job. Nothing but a rumor at this point.

Maybe he doesn’t want to manage again…

And if that’s the case, LFC should take their time to find the right man for the job. Not hastily hire a manager to please the masses.

Of course he would employ him as gaffa ASAP PURSLOW before you turn the fans against you!!

roy hodgson DON`T MAKE ME FCUKING LAUGH!!!

  • Red Barron says:

Sorry Thomas, you’re wrong. Kenny HAS come out and said he wants to be considered for the job. He asked to be released from the panel charged with finding a new manager BECAUSE he wants to be considered as a candidate and therefore could not also be on the panel to select a manager.

Even if only for the interim season, I would rather he had the job and steadied the club rather than make an expensive mistake putting someone else in place for 4 years on a massive contract.

  • Thomas says:
