The Liverpool Echo believes the sale of Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli could be crucial in Rafa Benitez’s efforts to land Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano. With Liverpoool unprepared to budge on their £30million valuation, and Inter’s president Massimo Moratti unwilling to bid more than €25million for the player, Benitez may look into the possibility of selling Balotelli to fund the deal. Balotelli has had a troubled time at the San Siro after falling out with fans, team-mates and former manager Jose Mourinho. Inter will demand £28million for the young striker and La Gazzetta dello Sport believes that both Manchester City and Manchester United could fight it out for the player. His sale would bring in the funds needed to match the Red’s valuation, and with Roy Hodgson needing extra funds to reshape the squad, the sale of an unsettled Mascherano maybe a possibility.

Isn’t the answer staring us inthe face? Inter to get mascherano offer 15 mill plus ballotelli we get a decent striker and 15mill to get a winger. Simples
To Jam….I guess maths wasn’t your best subject at school. The article clearly stated that Inter rate Balotelli at 28mil, plus the 15mil your suggesting, would be 43mil. As big a fan as I am of Mascherano, the best we could hope for is a straight swap.
how do Inter rate arguably one of the best defensive midfielder’s in the world as the value as they’re unproven teenager???
Liverpool had better not budge on their valuation, as EVERY other team is wildly over-valuing their players and we need to do the same for once!! (p.s. Toure just moved for £28m – use that as a guide price… 🙂

Yes i think 5m plus Balotelli and Cambiasso is perfect,and we add 10 to the 5m and we get Ardan Turan and of course we get Bryan Ruiz and Gia Assulin on free transfer for Barca.
Balotelli is grim and I wonder people on this forum must be blind or something. Balotelli is just a petulant kid on too much money and believes in his own hype! Wouldnt take him on a free.No good for the club and I would say ngog is a better
Prospect, the kid wud also get filled in by jami carragher or Gerrard in trainin with his attitude. Arda turan is a good shout, cambiasso maybe, but value mascherano more, if yaya you’re is worth £28m then how much is masch worth? I’d take Eva banegra from Valencia as replacement, played big part in valencias season of last and is valued at £8m, defensive and far better passer of the ball that masch and Lucas put together. Him and left back, 2 wingers, arda turan/ muller, 2 forwards klose (on the cheap and 2 good years left in him) and cardoza… Plus then u have 3 or 4 academy kids that can be used more within the squad and they help make up the 8 homegrown quota ( Pacheco, Kelly, eccleston, dalla valle)
