Reds target to sign new contract?

According to reports in Italy, Sampdoria left back and reported Liverpool target Reto Ziegler will be offered a contract extension by the Italian club. Swiss international Ziegler was rumoured to be a target for Roy Hodgson to solve the Anfield club’s left back problem but Sampdoria are hoping to stave off interest by getting the 24 year old to sign a new deal. The player’s contract ends next summer and Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone is apparently making preparations in the coming days to extend Ziegler’s contract for another couple of years. Along with Liverpool, Zenit St Petersburg have also shown an interest in the player and it remains to be seen whether the Swiss player will accept such a deal from the Blucerchiati.
