Thompson: Norwegian should be Roy’s first signing

|

Ex Liverpool defender Phil Thompson feels Roy Hodgson should target his former player, Fulham defender, Brede Hangeland as his first signing for the Reds. He told the Liverpool Echo:

“Hangeland is a player I’d love to see at Liverpool. He reminds me in many ways of Sami Hyypia as he doesn’t seem to get flustered. He’s also commanding in the air and very comfortable on the ball.”

Thompson also believes that former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole should be high on Hodgson’s wishlist:

“Another player I’d like to see him go for is Joe Cole. I hope Roy has already been on the phone trying to convince him to come as he’s a top class player. I know his agent has said he’s taking a couple of weeks to decide his next club after Chelsea. Last season proved the squad needs strengthening and Roy has to be backed with money. Signing those two could persuade the likes of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres that the club is going in the right direction.”

We don’t need another centre back. Waht’s wrong with Carra, Skrtl, Agger and The Greek? Ayala and Kelly are good prospects too.
