Will Purslow convince him to stay?

|

Following Wednesday evening’s draw with Grasshoppers of Zurich, Roy Hodgson was quizzed about the future of key Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. Hodgson revealed that:

“Christian Purslow has been talking to Fernando Torres for the last two days so I think there has probably been lots of words from Fernando Torres but I haven’t actually spoken to him.”

Its obvious to the world and his wife that Torres is seriously concerned about his future at Liverpool; he saw the club have its worst season in several years last season. The fact that we have a new manager should encourage him, as should the signing of Joe Cole from Chelsea and the commitment to his future at Liverpool by talisman Steven Gerrard. It is alarming that these talks between our MD Christian Purslow have been dragging on for a number of days. Either you want to play for Liverpool or you don’t.

I can understand Torres wishing for proper investment in players for the club, I also understand that while he spent years playing for a mid-table club in Athletico Madrid with little success, he is desperate for silverware and titles at club level. However, I hope when he draped the Liverpool flag over his shoulders when recieving the World Cup that his commitment to the Liverpool cause was, and is genuine.\

fernando torres will be at lfc next season no shadow of a doubt hodgson said he was confident torres will stay & so am i you’ll never walk alone

  • Mr Frome says:

Can’t see Torres leaving myself, but we need this clarified ASAP

BUT if El’Nino does give Purslow the impression he does want to leave we need to act fast, but then again CSKA London have mentioned there no longer interested and with the “reported” money issues at Barca I can’t see paying the 50m+ for him ,No way will he move to Man City

Another 2/3 good signings from Roy should sway his mind – if his mind isnt already made up

C’mon Fernando just come out like Stevie did and clarify your future one way or another

I think Torres understands the club really need him and he is doing what most cannot, that is putting pressure on the club to bring in good players, and thats what us fans all want.

torres has no intention of going, this is purslow leaking rubbish to make himself look good.

  • Daz says:

I think torres is sticking up for the fans because he must be asking for assuarnces that the club is going in the right direction. He has shown he loves us, he knows what it means to be a Liverpool player and he also knows the clowns running the show have imorraly dragged the club down with their pertulance and greed!

Thank you torres for sticking your neck on the line..
