How is Liverpool a “Smallish Club” exactly then Bruce?

|
It surprised me to read the news of Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck describing Liverpool as a ‘smallish club’.
ll
In his programme notes for Chelsea’s game with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, the chairman said that Joe Cole had moved to ‘a smallish club somewhere north of the M25’. This was a surprising and unnecessary side-swipe at Liverpool, who despite having only a fraction of the funds available to Chelsea, still eclipse them massively in terms of trophies and world wide fan base.

Chelsea’s board members have always been fond of their own voices, whether it was the weekly rants from Ken Bates (one memorable quote being the idea of electrified fencing at games), or Peter Kenyon, well, just being Peter Kenyon. Bruce Buck, from having been an unknown outside of Stamford Bridge has now firmly put himself on the map with these ungracious comments. In recent years, Chelsea have gone from being a mid-table cup side, to spending £1 billion in an effort to become the biggest team in the world. However amongst all the spending there has always been a distinct lack of class; I am always reminded of the classic Champions League quarter-final encounter in 2009 when, Chelsea having gone 2-0 down at half time and facing yet another Champions League elimination at the hands of Liverpool, the supporters responded by booing their team off the pitch. Cut to full time, and having drawn 4-4 to go through 7-5 on aggregate, with gusto the Chelsea supporters were waving tiny plastic flags that had been taped under every seat. Having seen such a classless display, one can only imagine how many of them would have deserted Istanbul’s Ataturk Stadium in 2005 had they been 3-0 down at half time.
sss
Oh how the Chelsea boardroom must look upon The Kop on one of those balmy European nights, and look on in envy; realising that while money can buy you league titles, it can never buy you tradition, history, and based on the comments from Buck, it also cannot buy you class.

As a neutral, the statement was unnecessary. Cole left because he wanted more 1st team action he can’t get in Chelsea. It was a win-win situation for both parties. So why is the old man so bitter?

Smallish club,If it wasn’t for abramovic Chelsea would be a mid table team at best.Mabye you can call yourself a big team when youve won the champions league. And it this shows Chelsea’s class,You have mediocre fans that have only started to support you since abramovic took over.Mabye your fans should look at the passion of liverpool fans and take some pointers. And by the way if you want a way to describe the Chelsea players two words JOHN TERRY.The man had an affair with whe mother of one of his team mates kid,And went behind the clubs back and done tours around the stadium charging 10,000 a pop!!

Chelsea’s fans are by and large chavs and the one thing chavs can lay claim to is being a bit short in the brain cell department.

  • Crassoline says:

mate i wouldn’t have bothered writing this.

It just gives Bucks comments more air time.

Its nice to watch other teams make complete fools of themselves without any prompting.

    Lets leave it them

its funny u slag off Cole and we don’t slag off yossi …. does that say any thing about the clubs . garcia ,yossi riera , alonso , arbeloa , crouch , bellamy , even mascherano who has stated he wants to leave England have all stated they are sorry to be leaving the best club in England and that’s without a league win in 20 years. how many Chelsea players leave and state they are leaving a great club with great fans even with 3 bought leagues in the last 20 years . no it never happens because Chelsea are a soulless club with plastic fans to match the plastic flags and atmosphere . go on come back with anti liverpool comments about bin dippers and Americans and drivel like that but behind ur laptop screen u cant hide the fact that you KNOW this to be true. ur average attendance before 2001 was 31,000 …. Everton have a far better true loyalty base of fans than u lot even Tottenham out shine u lot . name a Chelsea player who plays for the club 100% ….. Cash is king …… ur 54-55 league title is the only one recognised outside ur Fake club . I feel so lucky i can look back over these last 20 years without the PL trophy and say ive been part of a true real great club and i wouldn’t swap anything in the world to have any of ur 3 fake PL trophy’s … hahaha i cant wait to see the bitterness pour out masking the truth u will never admit about ur PLASTIC CLUB

I remember playing them in the Charity Shield in Cardiff, they sold 16.000 tickets, that’s their true support. We filled three quarters of the stadium and could have sold the rest, only for safety reasons the police wouldn’t allow it.

I wont compare trophies won domestically or in Europe its just to embarrassing. But when you triple your tally old man you’ll still be some way off, shame you wont see that happen in your life time.

Hi Friends, this idiot doesnt deserve to be the Chairman of a prestigious club like Chelsea, or for the matter of fact, be a chairman of any football club with such stupid comments. Its really sad and pity for Chelsea Football Club and its fans all over the world to have Mr. Bruce Buck as its chairman . A respectable Chairman doesnt attack rival clubs or call them with undeserving names. He has tarnished the respectable good name of Chelsea, its owner, its fans and has brought great shame upon himself…

Liverpool Football Club is known and recognised as the Greatest Football Club with hundreds of thousands of fans all over the world. Liverpool Football Club has achieved great victories in the past and continue to do so despite their limited funds unlike Chelsea.

Surprisingly, only this idiotic man doesnt seem to know anything about Liverpool Football Club.

Anyway, we have a deserving name for you, Mr.Bruce Buck. You are now officially known by all football fans as
    ” BRUCE THE SMALL-BALLS BUCK “.

Good Luck to you and Chelsea.

  • noel says:

which country is this guy leaving in?no amount of money can buy the Champions League title.

  • Vishnu says:

I think That BRUCE B(D)UCK is trying to create an impression in the minds of owners and fans to have his job for coming years……They can spend another 1billion on players but they still haven’t got champions league and also it will take another 50more years to attract the world wide fans as LIVERPOOL has so shut your dirty mouth and concentrate ur side matters first……………….
Money can buy Best players but not TROPHIES………
