Rumoured Liverpool target David Trezeguet is on the verge of signing for La Liga new boys Hercules. According to his agent Antonio Caliendo though, the former French international is still keeping his options open over a move to Lazio. He said to Laziolalaziosiamonoi.it:
“We’ll wait for Claudio Lotito (Lazio’s President and owner) until midday on Thursday. If it’s meant to be, then it will happen. I haven’t heard from Lotito in over 48 hours. We are prepared to wait a few hours longer, but no more, as the Spanish side Hercules are expecting our response. There will be an important meeting at midday. If we don’t hear from Lazio, it means the move will not go through.”
Roy Hodgson at his press conference yesterday also denied that they were interested in Trezeguet, Mario Gomez or Carlton Cole:
“No. This is the season when names are bandied around and connected with clubs. I’m pretty sure in countries like Germany and Spain, the same names are coming up and being linked with clubs there because that’s the way the system operates.”

good stuff – he’s no better than what we’ve already got, but would take up a lot more in wages (plus demand more playing time!)
There’s no point in looking for finishers when we don’t have the players capable of creating the chances for them anyway. We need a lot better on the wings than Kuyt, Maxi and Jovanovich can deliver!

@ Jay Wright, well said bro. what is the point of reinforcing our frontline when the ball rarely if ever gets to them. We need to reinforce the wings were we have been lacking for some time now. Jova and Kuyt, especially kuyt as seen against Man city were absolutley woeful, we need wingers with pace, skill, the ability to dribble and get past players and get the ball to our strikers. 2 players stand out in my mind, Ben Arfa and Turan, oh but wait, what am i thinking, they are not 30 something has beens who never were. Roy doesn’t seem to like youmg players who have technical abilities, he likes old timers who never made it.
Why would he loan out our only playmaker aside from gerrard yet stick with Lucas, who cant dribble, cant pass, certainly cant tackle, is out of position and gets skinned on every oppurtunity, yet loans out a player who shits all over lucas.??? i hope i eat my words, but i fear the nxt 9 months are going to even longer, and filled with even more dissapointment than last year. Roy, wake up to yourself and stop wasting what little money we have on old almost fucking retired players. Im losing respect for you by the minute…..
Could not agree more – we need width and pace with that magical touch of creativity!! Stalwarts like Kuyt & Lucas run all day long but cant pass forwards. Pls see the Light Woy and get some creativity out on the flanks

if he’s a target for some club like hercules then surely he’s not good enough for liverpool. this guy’s way over his peak already, we don’t need him at liverpool, would rather stick with ngog to be honest. if i was roy, i would have kept nemeth as a back up striker
