Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson was asked by the Turkish media yesterday whether he was interested in signing Galatasaray captain Arda Turan. He replied:
“No. There are a lot of interesting players in Turkey, but the players here earn good money and very often they begin and end their careers in Turkey and don’t need to move abroad.”
Arda has expressed in the past his love for Liverpool Football Club and the Turkish press have linked him with a move to Anfield on a number of occasions but it seems Roy is not interested in signing the player.

He said the same thing a couple of days before unveiling Cole so there’s hope yet!!
Please lets get him Roy! He is much better than Ben Arfa! He has the skills and play we need, doesnt sulk and he wants to play for us!!!!
if hes not looking at players like him then you probabaly have to question if he knows what hes possibly doing?
what a rubbish excuse – “they earn good money(in Turkey)?! Don’t pretty much all top flight players in the major leagues earn good money?! I’m pretty sure that Turan is not earning more than Aquilani was, or the vacating Kuyt or Masch are!
And what other players of his nationality have tended to do in the past is irrelevant – it’s not like he’d be trailblazing a path into some alien culture anyway! – there is a decent Turkish population in England and a number of Turks have played in the Premiership already.
It’s all about quality – either you think he’s good enough to improve the team, or you don’t. Neither his transfer fee or wages would be a major obstacle for Liverpool, even in this day and age. Roy really does seem to be losing all common sense already…
Not the type of comment that is encouraging to us fans nor to the player who wants to play for us and would do a good job with creativity! The Turks play hard nosed football… Roy, look again at Turan please!
tbh, I’d be looking to bring in both Turan AND Ben Arfa if I had the choice (you can’g go wrong at their prices, and are guaranteed to make your money back even if they aren’t as good as expected!) – we need a group of talented wingers that can rotate and ensure that we always have pace and flair on the wings, whether one player is injured or out of form, or not.
Kuyt & Maxi would both be surplus to requirements, and Jovanovich would have to compete for a place up front, or be backup to Turan, Babel, Ben Arfa & Pacheco for a wide berth in midfield

He’s so exciting player , could lift our game higher. Also he’s refused other team and annouce to be interested in our team ……
my opinion , Turan ‘s much better than even Joe Cole. He can beat every Premier League defender.

what is roy playing a????t we can sell masca,lucas and kuyt and get ruiz, arda and diarra it is not rocket science,hodgson needs to stop buying second rate players
He is not going to buy him because he is clearly to good for the mid table team Roy is trying to create. Another transfer window where we make a profit.
Thats a shocking excuse not to sign a player! especially one of Turans capabilities and he is exactly the type of player we are crying out for and he WANTS to play for Liverpool.

would really love to see him at liverpool as he’s a great player: skills, creativity and great shooting. disappointed with what roy said, if turan’s a good player you don’t have to care about what nationality he is or how much money he earns. a lot of fans and pundits have talked about how much they would like to see turan at liverpool and im no different.
Hodgson if where keep getting linked to carlton cole west ham rate him 12-15 million if we can afford that then why not Turan, i mean Mascheranos on his way, Kuyt maybe aswell plus Insua im sure wed have enough money for him if Roy wanted him. Who have we actually paid money for this summer? Jovanich free, joe cole free, Brad jones 2.3 million, Poulson 4.5 million (plus 1.5mill add onns at later date, out went rierra 4 million, benayoun 6-7 million, nemeth undisclosed. Sort it out Roy we need quality and natural width……YNWA
agree with most of you, it’s a real shame that we can’t sign a very good player who is desperate to play for us, i would’ve thought turan was EXACTLY the type of player roy would want!
his heart is with liverpoolfc unlike masch,kuyt&others who are after money &follow coachs please roy buy him if we need to win any silverwere and back in top 4.God bless liverpoolfc
