Would he be welcome if he returned to Liverpool?

|

Liverpool are rumoured  to be interested in bringing  Tottenham’s Peter Crouch back to Anfield with a bid of £10 million. Would this be a good move for player and club?

I believe it would suit all parties concerned, with Liverpool needing another striker to back up and play with Torres. Roy Hodgson is anxious to add more firepower to his squad before the start of the new season and hopes he can persuade Harry Redknapp to release the England striker from his team. It is believed that that Crouchy is willing to return to his former club and has the full support of Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, in fact, they are both urging the manager to make the bid.

What do you think, should the big man go back to Anfield?

Been there, done that, got the Tshirt! Thanks but no thanks, Liverpool played rubbish football when Crouch played (very predictable!). Would rather go for Remy, especially as there isnt a huge difference in price!

  • ste says:

Not Liverpool quality, stay at Tottenhamistan.

  • samuel charles says:

yes he would, he was a bit hasty in going from lfc, he didnt want to go but he turned down lfc contractoffer which buy the way was offered to him.
He wanted to play more football, weather or not he would do that at liverpool is another matter but for me for 10 million pounds we are not going to get much better, and he is another english player for that quota rule too. he does like the club and he knows gerro and jamie, he also knows what fernando wants to,, he knows how the club works, so he would fit in quicker then most other overrated players like this remy,,, i hate that guy walks around as if he is pele when you forgett he has done next to nothing at all. dont want that remy near lfc to be fair, bring crouch back and play 4 4 2.

    CROUCH TORRES
    COLE GERRARD AQUIALNI KUYT
    AURELIO AGGER CARRA JOHNO
    REINA
CROUCH WOULD BE GOOD TO HAVE WHEN NANDO IS NOT EVEN PLAYING TOO!

    ^^^ What that man said!

  • FloridaGuy says:

    No. Too old!

  • Dan Marshall says:

I think it would be a good signing, Crouchy is a good target man and also has a brilliant touch for a big bloke, and he’s proved it in the prem, unlike Remy.

  • fleety says:

I Agree would rather go for remy more dynamic, more pace, power an more youthful. Would av jovanovic up there b4 crouch?

  • Marshy says:

“Good target man?” If a target man is weak, easily bullied by centre backs and can’t retain the ball, then yes, he’s an ideal target man. This guy would be a complete waste of money and lower Hodgson’s appeal to the supporters. If things get worse, he’ll be buying Zoltan Gera next – oh, he is!

I would like to see Crouch back at LFC, but not for 10mil. If we’re gonna spend over 10mil then it needs to be on someone younger like Carlton Cole, Hunteleer, although he might be too much or Remy. If we could get Crouch for 7.5-8mil that would be alright.

  • Lee says:

He should never have left and only did so because Rafa treated him like rubbish.

He has great technical ability and offers something different BUT he’s not worth 10million at his age.

The squad is crying out for more pace (though more so in defence and midfield) and there are better players out there than him.

I refuse to say Remy is the answer like many of the other posters, simply because we have been linked with him. That’s the problem, too many people here the link and before you know it, he’s the best thing since sliced bread.

As for Brad Jones, why the hell are we buying him? He’s no better than Cavalieri,in fact he’s atrocious. Couple that with the fact that we still need a quality left back, a pacy winger or two and a quality striker.

  • daboy says:

No Crouch get Huntelaar not much dearer younger and way better or even Remy.

  • qwerty says:

Crouch would be an excellent signing and should have never left the club…he played with Torres once or twice and they looked to have a great understanding.

Bring in Wright-Phillips too and maybe Wayne Bridge…

  • Rob says:

Disagree with Paul. We were playing better football then than we did last season and Crouchie was brilliant at holding up play and also scored some real spectaculars. Needs to improve his heading though its like he sometimes just lets the ball bounce off one of the corners of his head!

As for all the hype about Remy his goals to games ratio is pretty poor and he’s overpriced so a thumbs up for Crouchie from me!

  • Mr Frome says:

WOuld be a good signing in my view – Everyone must remember the hatrick he scored against Arsenal, very good player and would be a good addition to the current squad

  • Jobo says:

Actually Paul, as soon as Crouch left the club we played some of the worst football ot of all English leagues – that is not a drastic assessment. Believe me, I witnesses every shambolic minute last season with the odd exception.

To answer the question, yes we’d welcome Crouchy back at the club.

  • steve mcauley says:

not for me i’m afraid, if roy is thinking english then bent and c cole would be ahead of crouchie in my book

  • smarts says:

We dont need crouch, Milan can be the backup striker he is tall, strong and more skillful than Crouch! Leave him at Tottenham and spend the money on Loic instead!

  • Sir,
I hope you go for him and Steven Ireland, these are players that can bring more flare into our style of football.
The era of Roy should be a decisive one and every hands must be on deck, we need the Barclay’s cup, please.

  • David says:

This guys wanted to leave for first team football (a question for all the Rafa haters like Lee – would you pick him over Gerrard or Torres – No – so be quiet!).

Nothing has changed…he would not be first choice – and he’s not good enough to rely upon for goals.

    No thanks.

  • Ben says:

I like the post by Lee saying that just because we are linked with someone suddenly he is God’s gift!! I feel the same about Turan. Now I’m not saying he isn’t good, he may be great, but I wouldn’t know as I’ve hardly seen him play!! And no YouTube compilations do not tell the whole story (just look at those of Kuyt or Lucas from their previous clubs, look totally different players although that;’s another story!!). On a blog or something recently this guy was ranting at people questioning Turan saying he was of exceptional quality and very consistent. So I asked how much Turkish league football he actually watches. Needless to say he didn’t reply.

As for me I wouldn’t particularly want Crouch or Remy, but if thats all there is before the window closes then I would rather have an extra striker than not! Don’t know anything at all about Remy other than I am not impresses by his stats. Crouch is too slow for me and his idea of holding up the ball was to pass it back to a centre back. Also apart from flick on’s he is crap in the air. Cannot direct a header and has no power when doing so. Something he should have been working on for years (like Shrek last summer)!!

Anyway I’m not going to worry too much as we can’t really influence it and what will be will be!!
